Has anyone that is Celiac/Gluten Free had the LapBand procedure?  I am scheduled for surgery in Nov and was wondering how to handle the food restrictions.

I try to stay gluten free as much as possible as it helps my ibs-d a lot!!   The gluten free diet is very easy as your band diet is each meal 75% protein and 25% a veggie of some sort.

Good luck!

Very easy ...and because GF breads often crumble and don't "ball up" like bread made with flour, I have never had a problem with it!

I'm a diagnosed Celiac for 9 years now. I had my LapBand done almost 26 months ago now and I haven't really had any issues with it and the gluten free diet.  I do occasionally eat a slice of GF bread with an egg in the morning and once and a while it might be a bit too much, but then again, I am definitely tighter in the AM than later in the day.

If you need some GF food suggestions, just email me.

Good luck!

I'm not gf, but my husband is.
I don't se eit being a big issue. The biggest issue I would say is later on, when you have restriction, I know a lot of GF breads are quite dense so you might have a tough time with them. It isn't hard to find GF protein shakes, most are gf. Since the gf aspect of things mostly affects your carb consumption, something that it is good to minimize anyway, I wouldn't expect you would have a harder time than anyone else.
