 Ahem . . .  YOUR board?! Really??

I'm gonna need to see some kind of title or other document of ownership, please. Because it can hardly be "your" (or anyone else's) board.

Banded 10 years & maintaining my weight loss!! Any questions, message me.

I haven't been here in a while, but I was sent the link to this a few minutes ago, and now I remember why I have stayed away.
I have the band, have had it since 6/9/09. I did quite well with my band in the beginning, until I lost my health insurance and could not afford the cost of the fills from my surgeon. Check it out, Cleveland Clinic Florida in Weston is $850 for an adjustment. I lost my insurance 4 months after banding when I lost my job. Believe me, had I known I was going to lose my job, I would have had the sleeve instead.
Anyway, from 6/9/09 until 2/14/10 I was down 66 lbs, and very happy. Went from a size 22-24 to a 12-14, in jeans. And a 2x-M/L in tops. Right about April 2010 I all of a sudden got very tight, and started pb after every meal. Didn't matter what it was, and I started having soup only. Then I tried eating again, and it was allright. This was the cycle i went through forever.
January this year, I went to the emergency room at another hospital as I was vomiting some blood with the food. Food that I had eaten 6 hours before and should not be coming back through the band at that point. With an $11k doctor bill later, and still no answer I was sent home. Oh they did a CT scan although I told them what they needed to do was a scope and unfill. Nope, refused. I went back to soup only. Fast forward to August this year, it is bad again, this time i am in the ft lauderdale area so I have my friend take me to the hospital where i had my surgery. Explained what was going on, they did a complete unfill.
Mind you, I am bac up from the 66lbs I had lost, to a point where I have gained 30 of it back, so now I am at a -36 from my heaviest weight, with having the band for over 2 years. THAT SUCKS.
i failed the band, the band failed me, I agree i would not keep up with adjustments due to finances, however, due to the fact that it tightened on its own, that is a problem. Now I am completely unfilled, and it feels like something is stuck in my throat ever since.
Most of my meals are liquid now, so that I don't put much more weight back on. I eat 2 small meals a day of food and have 2 meals of soup in the day as well. I still stick iwth the 1200 calories a day, still drink my protein shakes.
I hate my band, can't wait to afford to get it out.
Have had lapband for 3 years, ready for it to be gone... Just like my ex husband and I did, we are getting a divorce.

Okay, this really annoys me.  I just posted on another thread about how I rarely read this kind of garbage on this forum.  And this IS garbage.

I have welcomed all the info and support I get here from both successful AND failed bandsters.  And failed bandsters deserve a LOT of respect for coming here and sharing their stories and info with us.  They USUALLY get it here.  It's one of the reasons I come here a lot more than I go to the main forum.

And it's usually returned.  The failed bandsters (usually) treat the successful ones with respect and genuine sincerity, wishing them well.

ALL the surgeries require a lifestyle change and rules to follow, yet there are still risks.  Doing all the right things does not guarantee success.  Lessens the risks, yes, but does not eliminate them.  It's just ridiculous to imply otherwise, and in your OP, that's exactly what you do.

wow!!! I just can not believe all this. I haven't had any problems so far, I am banded 2 1/2 yrs. I have a few spurts of PBing, my fault..Not chewing enough.. I have lost about 60 pounds. give or take 5 or 10 here and there.. But, I am glad I had the band done. I am happy where I am right now. I feel fantastic the way I am.. I wish sometimes I didn't have the band. I miss, rice, pasta and bread. I am always wondering if I just would have stopped eating those foods, that I might have been able to lose the weight without the band. I am still on my blood pressure meds. That will be forever for me. I enjoy "Lurking" on here but, the fighting on here sucks. I know that everyone is different with the band but, come on,,, we are suppose to be supportive on here. Aleast it was 3 yrs. ago. I love reading about the good, the bad, the ugly of the band.. It helps those of us *****ally want to know what will and can happen along our journey.. I am not having any issues now but, maybe down the road I will and I hope to come on here and find some answers. I always read between the lines and take every word with a grain of salt. I have had lot of my questions answered on here and I take alot of notes. Who knows maybe one day I may have a slip or be vomiting for some unknow reason and need answers. I just hope some one on here "Has been there and done that ". I don't block anyone. I read everything.. I just don't like the "Bashing". Just tell your story and be done. I had the band to help me lose weight and help me maintain a better life. I don't bad mouth anyone for not having it or put people down for what they say on here reguarding their "bad experiences" with the band. Everyone here is different and have different problems. That is normal for everyone weather you have had the band, another weightloss surgery or not. It is just the way it is. Lets all be friends on here. Jus****ch what and how you post. We are all on here to learn. Can't we all get along?..Hugs to all.."Lucky"

Don't tell us to stay off your board.

It is not our fault that lapband failed US!!!

Lapband isn't the only WLS that fails us.  All WLS have its good and bad things.

I had the band for 2.5 years.  I couldn't live like this anymore with constant regrugation, too many random tightening of the band, several unfills and fills.  Very sensitive to fills.  The last two fills I had I got very tight I couldn't keep liquids down.

I just had the band removed and revised to bypass.

I am very happy for the lapbanders that had succeeded at it, very few will succeed and I envy them.

I would not recommend the band to anyone, but it is their decision.

I can come on this board if I want to and offer my support and experience.

How about you stay off YOUR board yourself?

246 in Dec 2008 before banded 1/28/09 at 215 lbs, band crapped 9/09 at 170 lbs and struggled with it and regained to 203 revised to bypass on 8/1/11 and am very happy.

We were all getting along, why are you being unsupportive and mean? I love to read the successes and I need to read the complications and I need to read about when the band fails. If the band fails blame the band first not the person struggling. Sometimes we need tough love to stay on track. I think that MOST failures are the bands fault. I am 3 months out from surgery and it is going well for the most part but I have lost about half my hair and to be honest have cried about that. I do worry about what might happen but I follow the rules and pray. I will pray that your band doesn't fail and people blame you instead of helping you.
