I'm considering asking her surgeon Glen Forney myself if he is concerned about being disciplined by The Nebraska Medical Board and receiving a letter of reprimand or being issued a citation when he knowingly implanted band number three in a patient that had a prior history of gastric surgery and an erosion while fully knowing and understanding that Allergans Key exclusion criteria excluded her from being a candidate for Lap Band surgery again and again.
I will at least forward this on to Allergan for damn sure.
This isn't about me picking on Karen, this is about reporting unethical Lap Band surgeons and forcing them to be accountable for their greed. I'd love a link to his report to the FDA about Karen's first two Lap Band removals.

Here's the thing Maria,
I really liked my first lap band surgeon. He was the one who implanted both of my lap bands, as well as both of my daughters bands. He was very nice, easy to talk to, and had an amazing bedside manner. Both mine and my daughters band(s) surgeries were done at a Center of Excellence COE. Having a wonderful and experienced band surgeon who implants lap bands at a COE does not exclude a person from experiencing lap band complications and failures. This would apply to any surgery.
COE's are one of the items I see many pre and post ops alike use as one of their defining criteria in choosing the lap band. I just want them to understand what the COE designation really means.
For myself the COE designation did not prevent my band's from slipping, eroding or the many complications that my band caused for me. COE did not prevent my daughters band's from slipping or prevent the hiatel hernia from forming either.
COE's & wonderful surgeons should not be the defining criteria when choosing your WLS.

Well DR Zee Starlite, I am so glad to know there is a DR here... LMAO anyway, yes my band was pulled through the canal like area and as the old one was pulled through the new one followed.

You SERIOUSLY believe this is what lapband removal entails? You don't have the first clue about human anatomy, do you? It's not like removing a belt. The band causes scar tissue to form. The scar tissue can also cause organs to "glue" themselves to one another. Removing a band is a serious surgery, especially when your stomach has already eroded.
Here's a couple of videos of lapband removal that you probably won'****ch... but should... so you don't think that bands are simply "slid in and slid out."

Well even "Dr. Zee Starlite" know's better than to put 2 bands in after an erosion! (As does anyone with half a brain!)
Diana,
Would it be malpractice if the surgeon specifically told the OP that having a band that eroded is a contraindication for being re-banded and the OP still decided to get re-banded anyway? Or is it malpractice per se because the surgeon rebanded her knowing that she already suffered an erosion, despite the OP giving her informed consent?
