Well my first fill was no big deal. I did fine and after liquids then mushies I have been able to eat and drink. I seriously have felt no different then before. Until.....yesterday. OMG I woke up to heartburn and not being able to eat things I ate before. It progressively got worse during the day and I finally called the doctor. They had me to come in this morning and they took out some liquid. They said they would have to watch me during fills because I was probably going to be one of those patients that has her fill kick in several days later. Now I am back on liquids then mushies for a couple of days. If this is how fills are going to fill I may just pass....I have lost 38 pounds with an empty band.

How aggressive a fill did they put in?

You might be an individual who needs tiny fills.

Glad you're feeling better.

Thanks I do feel better. Yesterday and this morning were no fun. They put in 4.6 and today they took out .3 today. They said if I still am having heartburn or am unable to eat solids on Wednesday they would take more out.

While I'm not an expert by any means, 4.6 sounds like a big fill.

Glad you got some relief and don't hesitate to get more out if you need more out.

My experience:  came out of surgery with 3cc's.. got 1cc at my first fill and everyone since then has been .5cc or smaller.

If they will give you small fills, you'll do fine.  :)  Sorry you had a rough first experience.

that is one of my biggest fears is what you just went through on fills and that is one of the many reasons why I have not had a fill yet

I think for me also if I go and get a fill it will make my band to tight or tighter then I want it to be right now and its not worth it to me .

Heck, I cant go any lower on my calories then I am right now and getting a fill would make me way to low on calories because I would eat even less .

There is quite a few of us on here that dont have any fills , and like my doc always tell me when I go in just because you come in and see me dont mean I need to stick a needle in you and fill you up :o) .

You might be one of them people that dont need any fills or you will need very very little and that is good :o) Less people poking around on the port, and getting filled and unfilled the less risk of complications I think.

Physiologically, I don't understand how this happens - it doesn't make sense to me. However, I read about it frequently and my surgeon's office says it happens all the time - anyway, it sounds like you were right on top of it and dealt with it the right way. Good luck with the liquids and mushies again!

I have had fills and never have had any real problems except when I gotten sick not due to the band
when I had the flu or ther infections than I had unfill but my dr is not aggressive with them he gives little fills but I have had a friend that was told she should never any more fills because she has problems with them now
