I think my band needs to come out

I want it out if it needs to come out.  I trust my Dr to be able to tell me if that's the case.  I hope he wouldn't keep it in if it's doing damage that can't be fixed unless removed.  I should hopefully find out this afternoon what the situation is, after my  next UGI.

If it comes out, I won't get another WLS.

I'm surprised he's not doing an Endoscopy but maybe he can't due to swelling.  It's much different than the upper GI.  It's when they put a small camera down your thoat to look around the esophagus, band, pouch and stomach.  You have to be under general anesthesia although it's a breeze proceedure!

Please keep us posted.  I'm sorry you're going through this!

Its really weird to think about removing the band. I was in chronic pain because of the band, but I was scared of having it removed because even after all of the suffering I was enduring because of it. I was even more afraid of gaining my weight back.

All my friends and family kept telling me to get it out, but they didn't know what it was like to be fat. Now that it is gone I am so thankful that I had it out.

Good luck in whatever you choose to do and if you need some support or you have any questions regarding ins approvals/denials....we have some really informative members over in the failed bands group.

I understand you exactly when you say you dont want it out afraid youll gain it back.  Everyone else who has not dealt with weight issues doesnt know what you go through and the struggles, feelings, shopping discourages, etc causes as well.  So, Im with you.  My husband believes it should come out.  I have had mine since 5-5--5 and it really hasnt been too much of a problem.  I just struggle wih it lately and get frustrated tho.  Its hard for me to get off work for fills since i drive an hr each way for this so im too full right now and starving and unable to leave work:(
Hope things gets better!

I'd make sure your surgeon knows all the details and see what he recommends once the swelling has gone down. He sounds like he knows what he's doing.

Sounds almost like me. My UGI showed I had a hiatal hernia.  I got it taken care of and my surgeon revised my band at the same time.  I feel great now. I hope everything works out for you!!
Best of luck!!
