Advice from Jillian Michaels on breaking a plateau

Was reading Fitness Magazine yesterday and Jillian Michaels was featured as their cover interview.  Here's what she had to say about plateaus:

When you lose weight, at a certain point your body produces hormones that cause you to hold on to the weight.  What you need to do is rest for several days (i.e. not exercise) and up your calorie consumption by 10%.  This will give your metabolism a boost and you will start losing again.

Note that this is the opposite of our natural inclination -- exercise more and eat less.  And of course, more fun.

I would note that the Curves eating plan operates under the same principle.

Have you tried this and did it work for you?

I have at times relaxed my calories a tiny bit when I wasn't losing like I wanted and it seemed to help.  I don't like to not exercise.. lol..  I think I'm a bit OCD in that regard.  :)
