I'm doing pretty good most days. I don't really eat sweets or refined stuff but OMG I make my Daughter Mac and Cheese about once a week and the stuff is like Crack to me I can't stop eating it and I get full and grossed out every time. I get her the Trader Joe's boxed kind but it's 3 servings and she eats about a serving and a half she's two no weight problem yet!
I know I should cook it measure it out for her and put it away but I just can't seem to. Any suggestions on how to break this addiction?

Hi Carrie,

I am coming to the realization that I just cannot have those "crack" foods around the house at all. I just read two excellents posts - one by kathkeb and the other  by LisaBeezee about how they have reached and maintained their goals and both have made real life long changes that are working for them - it inspires me to know that these changes can be made, and that we can reach and maintain our goal weights.

I've been disgusted with myself lately - I "know" what I should and shouldn't eat - but the junk food is like crack to many of us, and it's probably better for us - and our kids in the long run - if we do not have them around.

Best of luck to you ~ never give up!

You really are! I love this forum - It's awesome to be able to interact with people who understand this struggle, and even more, to not have to do it alone anymore!

My kids were grown when I had WLS and changed my eating habits. I have often thought about how different their eating habits would be if if I did this when they were much younger.

Now is the best time to change eating habits, when they are young like that. There is no problem with m & c once a wk. Just make sure she is getting a lot of healthy food along with that. Fresh veggies and fruit...........or even canned. Whole wheat or whole grain.

Don't forget about liquid calories also. Try to get her drinking more water and a little fruit juices. Try to avoid carbonated beverages.

I am doing great! Just been extremely busy lately!!!

The strange thing is............for about a month I have actually had some degree of restriction. Not like they advertise it to be at all..........but the most I have had without being too tight.

Here is a guilt-free weight-loss friendly recipe - my son can't even tell the difference and asks me to make this all the time - OMGah it is beyond delicious! You might have to copy/paste it into your browser rather than click the link directly...sometimes it gets weird. :)

That sounds delish! I love cheesy cauliflower. I'll have to try this! Margo from the VSG forum has a good recipe for it also.

I agree with what's already been said, keep the mac and cheese out of your house. Maybe your daughter can order it when you go out to eat- it's almost always on kid menues. Good luck!
