Considering a commemorative piercing!

I've had my ears pierced since I was 12, and that's all - by a staple gun in a mall store. No tattoos, and I'm 47.  Recently, I got the idea that I want to get a piercing to symbolize my reclaiming of my body with my weight loss.  Lots of very overweight women dis-associate from their bodies, it's fairly common, and I certainly did. Anyway, time for some female empowerment of the most literal kind!

I've been reading everything I can get my hands on, am in the process of picking a piercer. I will be getting a VCH (you're going to have to Google that).  It seems that the most experienced pierciers in my area are male, and I am quite modest, so I am going to REALLY be stepping out of my comfort zone!

I have heard of people getting tattoos after WLS, did anybody here get piercings?

LOL i recently got a piercing (NOT A VCH) to celebrate my my flat sculpted abs - i pretty pink belly button piercing.  I also did get 2 tattoos to celebrate when I reached my goal.  I have them on my pictures (Chinese symbols for Strength and Perseverance)

WOW, look at you!  Your transformation is amazing!!

I moved to NC from CT - this is the only time of year that I miss CT weather! It's already 95+ degrees here, and we are not even in Summer yet! UGH!

Thanks for your reply, I knew someone would understand. I work in a very corporate insurance company office, and my friends think I've completely lost my mind with the piercing thing!

Supposedly, it's less painful than an ear lobe to pierce. We shall see - my appt is next Saturday!

OMG, I'm really going to do this! Then I will have TWO implant grade devices in my body!

AAAAhhhh!!!!

You worked hard to lose the weight and if a piercing is what you want as your reward then you go for it girlfriend.  Congrats on your great success.
