6/11 will be my 4 year banniversary.the first 3 years I lost around 25 -30 lbs,I lost & gained, lost & gained, mostly gained, went from 277 to 244 and stayed at that for the 3 years till my husband suggested we spend our money on excercise equipment instead of fills & unfills 2-3 times a month,so we turned our garage into a gym 9/19/10 having arthritis I started with walking the treadmill 30 min a day I'm now doing 2hrs of jogging 1 hr of toning lost 76 lbs in 8 1/2 months ,I now weigh 168, I have'nt lost anything in 2 months, can't excercise more than 3 hrs aday 6 days aweek cause my knees are getting worse and my back, can't eat any less than what I'm eating now,can anyone tell me how they lost the last of their weight? I feel like 3 hrs of working out everyday is just making my knees & back worse and ain't doing nothing to lose the weight.
                                                                                                  thanks for any advice

I lost the last 20 the same way I lost the first 115, I ate less and I moved more.

I made sure that I followed 80% of the 'rules' 80% of the time or more

That means

NO liquid calories -- except maybe skim milk (but I don't care much for milk and it does not curb my appetite)

60 + grams of LEAN protein daily (yogurt, tuna, beef/pork/chicken/fish)

60 - 100 ounces of water and other non-caloric beverages a day (more plain water than anything else)

about 300 minutes of moderate exercise a week (walk/jog, elliptical, water-walking, hiking)

Debbie, maybe jogging isn't the workout for you?  Have you tried RPM aka SPIN classes?  They're a very aerobic class, but done on a bicycle so that there's not nearly as much stress on the knees.

What abou****er aerobics?  Or look into an Elliptical type machine.  I bought a used "Gazelle" for about 30.00.. not much expense there.

I'm still working on my last 20 to 30 lbs, it's slow going.  And if you have excess skin, some of the extra weight might be in that.  And start checking your measurements.. weight isn't the only standard to gauge health.

Hi Lisa, Thank you for responding to my post,I do see a pain specialist and was told no excersing at all ,but I continued because with walking alone was'nt doing much,I had a gazelle which was my first excercise right after my lapband, but made my knees worse, right now I'm just excercising in my pool, not losing any weight but m knees feel good.

Like Kath said, I just kept on doing the same thing I was doing to lose the first bit of weight....except I added A LOT more patience.  LOL  It always takes longer for those last few pounds to come off.  After I got to my first personal goal, I knew I wanted to lose a bit more weight and accepted the fact that it may take a very long time to do so.  At that point, I was literally only losing 2-3 lbs per month.

Just keep on keepin' on...it sounds like you are doing a great job (especially if you are already doing the tasks listed in Kath's response) but unfortunately it will take a while longer to reap the benefits.

Congrats on your success!!!  100 lbs of weight lost is NO easy feat.

Hi Lisa, you ain't kidding about them last  pounds,I'm excercsing 3 hrs a day 5-6 days a week, thats how I lost close to 80 lbs in 8 1/2 months, but my knees completely went out on me so cant do anymore than 3 hrs, aday or awhole week ,can't eat any less, but I do have alot of excess skin so that might be part of why I'm still stuck at the same weight for 2 months.

Hi Debbie:
Have you checked with your nutritionist lately?
Recently mine suggested 1000 cal per day to speed up my 1-2 lb per MONTH weight loss.
Oh, and have you tried the pool/water aerobics?
That's a lot easier on the joints...
Good luck!
Mary

Hi Mary, I have not seen a nutritionist since I got the lapband, and as for the water aerobics, I do ,usually only when my husbands home, I dont know how to swim so I make sure someone is home to help me get in the pool,it feels sooo good on my knees but I still dont notice weightloss plus after getting out of the pool I'm hurting the rest of the night, because of my arthritis.

Sorry you have such problems with your joints....
Sometimes the YMCA offers special classes for arthitis patients....
Hope it works for you....
PS, the class I take offers special floatation belts and cuffs, so all you really do is bob around in the water and use your arms and legs to move around the pool. It's called Deep Water Aerobics....
Good luck!
All the best,
Mary
