Newbie-Calories vs. Protein
Good morning all! I am four weeks out from having RNY. I have lost 15 pounds since surgery, but the scales haven't moved in a week which is kind of freaking me out. I have been studying high protein, low carb foods, and have noticed that many of them have a lot of calories. I have successfully lost weight with Sugar Busters in the past-basically not eating anything white or yellow, but not counting calories. Does that work for WLS patients? I'm finding it hard to keep my intake to 700 calories while trying to get 70 grams of protein in. Any suggestions would me greatly appreciated!! Thanks!

Well I have the lap band and dont know much about the RNY really to tell you how to do things. You might get some better help if you go to that board instead :o)
700 calories that is awful low though . I would personally be sick if I ate that low and I cant lose weight if I go to low.
The problem is if you keep your calories to low your body will go into starvation mode and hold onto everything and anything but your surgery is so different from the band so I dont know if you all hold onto calories like we do .
I can keep my calories around 1000 to 1500 per day and get anywhere from 80-100 grams of protein in . Some days that is all I eat is protein it depends on my moods and then I have some days I dont eat as much which is not good either .
But if I go below 1000 a day then I wont lose weight .
