Hello,

I'd like to ask if anyone within hours of surgery become obstructed? My husband passed the swallow test the rest of the dayand since mon haven't kep anything in, he keeps vomiting. His swallow test on tues showed he was obstructed. Anyone hear of this and what did you do?

I failed the barium test due to it going through and then came to a complete halt.  The only thing that my surgeon could surmise is that my esophagus spasmed.  I ended up staying overnight for observation and to try to continue to put fluids in and see if they stay down.  I have a history of acid reflux with a very small hiatal hernia that they found when they did the endoscopy prior to qualifying for surgery.  Good luck and keep us informed.

I had to spend a couple of days in the hospital after my band was placed. I don't know if what I had was an obstruction, per se, but my stomach was seriously pissed after the surgery and would not let anything pass, it all came back up. It took a while for things to calm down and I went home when all was well.

At my surgery the doctor placed a primer fill in my band... the next day I drank the liquid shake they give you at the hospital and it wouldn't go down easily .. they released me and I went home and started to sip water and it would come back up.. it was vomitting it just would come right back out.. I called my doctors office they had me come back into the office as an emergency and they removed the primer fill.. they were a little unhappy the hospital released me because the test is drinking the small amount of protein shake .. Anyways you need to call the doctor ASAP.

Alot of doctors place a primer fill and some are more sensitive than others and the stomach because swollen so that primer fill needs to be removed. Even now when I get a regular fill at the doctors office I get very swollen and have to be on liquids for two days...

Good Luck
