Eating habits?

So I've read some posts that seem to indicate that what type of eater you are may determine your success with the lap band.  I am a volume eater and a snacker and I love sweets.  Is this going to make life with the lap band harder than for someone else?

The lapband will help you reduce your volume, that is once some fills get you to restriction.  Some docs say no snacking, but I don't really agree.  I have always been a snacker.   Even when was loosing I ate 1-2 snacks a day.  I think the key is to make them planned and healthy (that is, on whatever food plan you are following).  As far as sweets, they go right through the small pouch the band makes.  They sort of melt in your mouth.  Hope this helps.

The band will help with the volume eating.  The snacking/grazing the band will not help you stop eating a little bit here and a little bit there...and that kind of behavior can add up with the calories.  As for the sweets...that is my weakness.  I love cookies and cheesecake, ice cream.  The band doesn't help you with sweets...except that you can't eat as much as you did before surgery.  But I can eat more than enough cookies to gain weight if I allowed myself to.

The band helps me avoid eating large portions.  The band helps me avoid a lot of carbs because they are just so filling.  So I don't eat pasta, bread, rolls, bagels...things like that.  It is so bulky that I eat a few bites and then I can't my protein.  I can still eat lots of cookies, cakes, pie, and so on.  I have to use plain old fashion will power when it comes to snacking and eating sweets.
