Newbie starting on the journey and it's consultation day ackkk
Hey y'all!!! My name is Samantha and I am 34 yrs old. I've been between overweight and obese for about 8 years now. I recently had my referral approved through Tricare to see Dr. Searles here in Anchorage Alaska. I've done every diet known to man and even some crazy ones seen in magazines. Nothing seems to be helping and have been researching and talking with people who have had the surgery. So I hoping with the help of Lap Band, exercise and nutrition I will be headed in the right direction of a healthier beautiful me. So that my insides reflect on the outside now. So I am totally believing the whole mind over matter thing. As many of you know I started my journey to having Lap Band surgery last month and today is the day I meet with the surgeon I was referred to. And just like clockwork I am freaking out. It's amazing how we use our comfort zones no matter how much we hate them as blankets to hide from the unknown. Been thinking about all the tests, the fact we are in Alaska away from family with just a handful of friends and I just told my mind to STFU and let my heart take over. I know I am ranting and I am sorry for that. But just had to get it out and thank you all for the support and inspiration to take charge!THANK YOU!!!
Bless your heart, Samantha. The whole WLS journey is a huge project to take on and it's no wonder you're stressing out about it. It will be OK! And you're not the only OH bandster in Alaska - I can think of 2 who had band surgery in Anchorage and did very well despite being so far from family and friends.
Good luck!
Jean
Good luck!
