Aleeve or ibprofen

are we totally banned from taking these? I have bad sinus pressure and sinus headaches and have not slept in a week because of all the pressure in my head! Tylenol does not work,...please help.

When I had a horrible back ache the nurse said I could take 1 Aleve gelcap.

When needed I take childrens liquid ibuprofen Tylenol does nothing for me.

I drink water after taking to make sure that it goes through.........CVS makes an orange flavored one that actually tastes good.......

I don't take my chances with pills.............

I am not banned from any over-the-counter meds.

I take Naproxen Sodium (NSAID) for ankle pain --

I have no history of ulcers/stomach problems --- my doc's philosophy is that since we have a fully intact stomach, that we are no higher risk of side effects of NSAIDS than anyone else.

You should ask your surgeon.  I know other surgeons as evidenced by what others have already posted think NSAIDs are ok, but mine doesn't allow them on a routine basis.

If NSAIDs are really needed my surgeon does allow low doses for short periods of time and we are advised to take a PPI (proton pump inhibitor) such as Prevacid or Prilosec while we are taking the NSAID (but not to take them together).

Is pepcid one of those. I took one at about 2 pm. I called my dr's on call nurse but still have not heard from her yet.

I don't think so.  I think Pepcid is just an antacid.  PPI's work differently and are Prilosec, Prevacid and one other that I can never remember.

Jen, I don't remember Dr. Acosta telling us no with ibuprofen.  I take them for headaches, nothing else gets rid of the pain for me.  Hope you are feeling better!
