What difference will it make if I can't quit smoking that easily before surgery??

I had to quit right before my surgery . It was either that or he would cancel my surgery that is how he felt about it.

I had to go in for a nicotine test 48 hrs before my surgery and if I tested positive then no surgery for me.  I had to be clean 30 days .

I just quit cold turkey .  The first week was the hardest but getting this weight off me was more important then the smokes.

I have been smoke free for 8 months now. I still get the desire to smoke once in awhile especially right before my period because that is when I smoked the most so I wouldn't eat all the time due to cravings.

Now, I cant even stand the smell of it.  Anybody that walks around me that smells like smoke I gag . I couldn't believe I smelled that way also ewww lol.

My hubby asked me this question what was more important enjoying the smokes or losing weight and getting healthy and happy .

I thought I would gain a bunch of weight after I quit you always hear about people gaining huge amounts of weight.  I didn't gain a single pound.

I was so determined not to go in this surgery heavier then I was so that really helped me from replacing the ciggs to food.

You can do this .  To be honest quitting the smoking was ten times harder then losing this weight .  The weight and cutting back on the food was alot dang easier

My surgeon will not perform surgery on a smoker.

He does a nicotine test to verify.

Too high risk ---- you may not be able to quit 'easily' -- but you can quit.
Talk to your surgeon and your PCP about ways to quit and get all of the help you need.
