Throwing up mucous = you may be too tight!

I have been dealing with excess mucous for awhile now, and it's something that there doesn't seem to be a lot of info on out there. I went to see my surgeon today, and he said that excess mucous is the result of an irritated esophogas. He took most of my last fill out, and I will go back in a month to make sure all is well. I already feel a huge difference.  (No damage was done!)

I'm mainly posting this for future bandsters who may search "mucous" on the main page and find very little; here is some info for them. Your surgeon's opinion may vary!    (I have found people saying they were told it was seasonal allergies, or to just drink hot liquids, but those did not apply to me; no allergies, and I was throwing up the hot liquid w/the mucous.)

 Hope this helps!

We call that sliming and yep if you are, you're too tight. But you are right I haven't seen alot of posts about it lately, hopefully that means folks are finally getting it that being too tight is a no-no. Glad you are doing better!

Everything I saw referring to Sliming had to do with being stuck and having excess saliva. I wasn't stuck, and I was throwing up mucus, not saliva, w/out eating, so I didn't equate the two.

 I feel much better!

Heidi,
I am so glad to have stumbled across this.  I have been having problems with mucuos for a month now. I just had RNY 11/17/11 and have had to have  a cup by my side since then. And I don't know what to do. My surgeon seems to think it has to do with my ulcer but I don't agree.  You stated your doc said it was an irritated esophogas, what exactly did he do to fix the problem?  Please help I am at my wits end.
