I know I haven't been on the site for a while. I've basically fell off the wagon. I haven't gained weight, but haven't lost either. I found myself in a funk. I just started eating what I wanted, the band prevented overeating. I had to pick myself up, shake myself off and start working my band again. I just got depressed with a my slow loss and kind of threw in the towel. But I know I can pick up where I left off. It aint' over til' the fat lady sings! Has anyone experienced these "funk-phases"? Or is anyone going through one now?

yeap I can relate to you. I went through one . I just got pissed one day that I couldn't eat a Big Mac and French Fries from McDonald's lol.  Well I could eat it but then the damn guilt's got in the way and then I got mad about that lol.

But seriously the last part of May I was that way . I didn't lose no weight , but didn't gain like you and I got depressed also.

The band is a slow weight loss unless you take the band to extremes which I have seen people do in my support group which isn't right either and I dont want to go that way.

You work hard, eat right, eat healthy and exercise your ass off and see nothing it can really play mind games with you and you want to throw the towel in .

I got very upset last month about this.  I yelled at hubby and said what the heck I had freakin WLS done and I cant even lose 1 pound a week, well it dont matter what WLS you have done sometimes its not the answer to losing weight all the time *sigh*. and to be frank getting a fill because you stall isn't always the answer either I have learned that by experience also .

All I can say is Basimah keep doing what you are doing, exercise, eat your cup of food , eat three balanced meals a day and throw a snack in there if you want and the weight has to come off it dont have a choice :o) .

Even if you only lose 5 pounds per month that is better then gaining them five pounds .  I just have set my goal at five pounds per month if more comes off great if I lose 5 then I'm happy with that also .  Set some mini goals that are reachable for you :o)

You are so right. It is better to lose slow, than to gain fast. Thank you so much for your words of encouragement.

oh my gosh, Basima!!!!!  It's so good to see/hear you!!  I was hoping you were well.  I'm just two weeks out and today is my last day of mushies so I'm not is your shoes but definitely can relate from all those years of "trying" to lose weight.  i know i'm a little messed up in the head right now in a different way.  I know i'm not eating enough calories but i'm so freaked out about failing cheating that i'm doing kind of the opposite which isn't good either b/c i know my matabolism will slow down.  I think it's a delicate balance and a process that we all have to go through and probably go through for a good long time!

Hang in there and again so great that you're back!

I know, it's been a while since I've been on the site. But I'm glad to be back where I belong.

I totally understand where you are at. I had the band done two months ago but it has not been overly restricive yet. I found the past month difficult with all my old habits rearing their head.
Then i started the woe is me did i choose the wrong procedure for me...none the less my head is now back in the game a nd I am working toward my goals. i am realizing that I will noe allow the demons that gt me here conquer me!
Good Luck! We are all in this boat together. it is a great support.

It just seemed like I was back at point A. I had to limit my intake and exercise and I felt if I were able to do that in the first place I wouldn't have needed the surgery. I got my mind back in the right perspective, and I'm ready to keep on truckin'

The "funk phase".  Is there anyone who can't relate?  LOL  The band is a tool, not a cure-all and we all know this.  HOWEVER, it isn't easy and boy can I relate.  I'm in a bit of a funk right now as well.  I've done well (I think) up to this point, but this month has been a very slow weight loss month for me.  I'm struggling in life which means I'm reaching for food and seem to always be hungry.  Thank you so much for sharing your feelings as it's nice to not feel alone.  We will get through this and be triumphant!  :-)
