Am I In Trouble?

I've had my band for three years, and last week I had my first ever stuck episode. It was excruciatingly painful! Ever since then I have had awful reflux.
For those of you that have experienced this, If I take it easy, should it get better on it's own?  I'm self pay, so I don't want to run to the doctor to have him tell me to take it easy and it'll get better.
So, my plans are to take it easy, take my omeprazole, and give it some time, but if it continues, then I'll go see my doctor.
Any words of been there, done that, and what I should do will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks In Advance!

I had the same problem twice I did take over the counter meds for acid and stuck to liquids for a couple of days . If it doesnt get better have a small un fill I had to have .2cc removed and it cleared up.

I too am self pay.  I have never had a bad stuck episode, though I have been stuck several times.  I don't have reflux often so I just try to be very careful and chew my food well, don't go to bed right after eating.  Think you are probably doing what the doctor would do.  If it doesn't cost to call, then do that and see what they say.
Take care and best wishes,
Z

Hi Amy,
1st congrats on not having a bad stuck episode for 3 years.
Your band is probably swollen and does need rest. Stick to liquids or mushies. If it doesn't get better you may need a very small un-fill to let your band rest easier. If you do go to the Dr ask for a slight un-fill so you didn't go in "vain" so to speak. (slight could be 1/2 cc).
I hope it gets better, I've had a couple of slight un-fills and it always has helped me. Good luck!

Hi Amy, I've also had my band for 3 years. I have had a few episodes of getting stuck, as you put it. If I eat too fast, or too much. There are certain foods I know that I will have a problem with. The only time that I went to the doctor was when I couldn't get my pills down - gagging, and bringing all back up...The removed some fluid (don't recall how much), and the next time I went in, the added it back. I have not had a fill or had anything removed in the last year. Usually, if I get stuck, it doesn't stay down - it comes back up. Then, for the next couple of days, very sensitive, and just try and do softer foods that will go down smoothly - no chicken, beef, etc. and nothing spicy, as these are trigger foods for me. I usually stick to soups, or tuna salad, etc. The reflux, for me anyway, usually subsides over a few days. I am also self pay for any adjustments that I have to get, so, I don't go unless absolutely necessary...

Good luck, I hope that you feel better soon.
