Band repositioned with plication?
I saw a new surgeon today since I have had problems w my band. My original surgeon moved out of state. This new one is very experienced and has trained a year with( Geist?) In nyc for a year. He has done over a thousand lap bands some being with plication.
He seems to think my band is not in the right position and that is why I am having issues. He said that the band with plication (stomach would be the size of a sleeved one) would have great results. He seemed very confident that this would be the way to go.
If he goes in and sees that the band is in the right place then he would remove band and I would go back in 6 wks for the sleeve. He doesn't want to take any chances of a leak due to scar tissue with the sleeve.
Has anyone had this done?

Why doesn't the Dr do a simple text to be able to visualise your band to see if there is a problem? My surgeon has the patient drink some barium and with a fluro scope machine he can tell exactely how your band is doing. He can also tell if your esphogus is dialated and even if your pouch is dilated. The treatment for both of these problrms is have an unfill and to let everything rest for at least 2 weeks. I get the impression that the new surgeon just wants to open you up and do a new procedure so that it is more money in his pocket. Has he discussed the possible complications involved to you? I would tread slowly on what he is wanting to do. Best of luck to you and please let us hear us hear back from you on the final outcome.
