Update on revision--many don't know me

Hi everyone,
I told all of those that I had "met" on the lb board that I would keep them updated with things.
Here goes:
I had my sleeve on 5/23.  The first days were rough--harder than when I had my band placed, but I am doing great now.  Drinking is the hardest part.  There is ABSOLUTELY NO gulping (or even a mouthful for that matter) with the sleeve.  I can really feel it in my stomach when I take even the tinest too big of a drink whether it is water or food (since all my food is liquid pretty much).  I must say that the liquid and puree stage is much easier with the sleeve because I have NO hunger.  I can, however, tell when my body wants me to eat--I get a little tummy ache.
There were some interesting developments when I had my sleeve that my surgeon did not tell me when I had my band out two months ago.  First, the sleeve was a little more complicated because my band surgeon used clips to attach the band to the stomach to avoid slips.  This caused a little more scar tissue, but they were able to work around it.  Now, this, at first, made me a little proud of my band surgeon.  I thought, wow, he really did not want me to have problems.  Well, it was short lived.  I found out that he did not bother to fix the haital hernia that I had!  My sleeve surgeon said that this may have contributed to my issues.  Why he did not fix it, I will never know, but it really ticked me off.  To me, he was just lazy!  I am glad that it did not cause any more issued than it did.
Anyway, I am down 7 pounds in a week, and I can tell that I am finally going to fully succeed.
Thanks for listening, and to all of you, good luck and good living!
Jenn

Congrats on your "new" journey! I rarely see any sleevers complain of problems so hopefully this will be the case for you too. It must feel great to know you have a tool that actually works for you. I wish you nothing but continued success!!

Jenn --

Glad to hear that you are doing well in your recovery.

Sorry to hear that your original surgeon did not fix your hernia (my surgeon gave me 'before' and 'after' pictures of the hernia he found and fixed).

Tiny bites, tiny sips ---- and keep the progress reports coming!!!

I had a virgin sleeve my biggest problem was water.  So I decided to pour everything into a shot glass (1oz at a time) and I sipped it like it was scalding hot coffee or tea.  Slow super small sips...annoying but I would take a 16oz water bottle and pour that into the shot glass.  I carried it everywhere I went...good luck.

Hi Ms. Shell!

How long did you have to drink like this?  I'm getting more and more worried.  Not sure I will make it.  I have this idea that I will get dehydrated because I won't be able to get enough in and because it is summer well ...  You know, it was a very real situation for me with my band - my famous 8 day obstruction.

I don't remember how long I was like that...I do know drinking like that allowed me to get in at least 20-32oz of WATER...which didn't inlcude other liquids, like protein etc.  I was worried about dehydration too which is why I carried that bottle and shot glass around with me.  The most important thing to ME in those first few weeks was WATER.

Hi Jenn! Glad all is going well with the sleeve! I am about 6 months out of mine and let me tell you, tonight I am sitting here gulping water at nearly the same rate as pre-op. So, no worries, after a few months, you will be drinking more normally again!
