I had my lapband on December 22, 2010, so I am almost six months out. My hair started falling out in earnest about 3 months ago and it isn't showing any sign of stopping....Thankfully I started out with thick hair.  When will this shedding end?  I am seriously finding my hair EVERYWHERE in my house!

Are you gettin enough protein in your diet.  I have hear that biotin helps too.

I take 5000 mcg of biotin every day, take zinc and fish oil daily also. I also started using nioxin shampoo every other day and nioxin conditioner every day. Sounds like a lot but it has slowed my hair loss tremendously. I also try to get all my protein in every day as well.
Good luck, I know how frustrating it is.

I had my surgery on 12/22 too. My hair started to fall out about 3 months out, and it has stopped about a month ago. My nutritionist said to make sure to get my protein in. She also said that the Biotin is good for the regrowth, it doesn't stop it from falling out.

My hairdresser said if you can find it vitamin H is good for hair regrowth. I looked for it and never found it. Good luck!

You are right on schedule! If people are going to lose hair it starts between 3-6 mos. from surgery. It is mostly from the anesthesia and the trauma of surgery that causes the hair loss. I promise it will stop, just takes a few weeks to months for it to end and then it'll start growing back. Just be patient and you'll soon be good as new.

Yes, don't worry, it will stop falling out, and it will grow back.  I lost about 1/3 of my hair, and it scared me to death!  But after a few months, I finally started to see new hair growth.  Just try to be patient, and keep getting in all of your protein, and it will be ok.

My hair started to fall out 5 or 6 months post op. I went to the dermatologist and he assured me, much to my relief, that I would not go bald. He said such rapid weight loss is a shock to the system. I too started out with a thick head of hair. The hair loss lasted about 3 months. Try not to worry about it.

Yep, right on schedule! I PROMISE it stops or at least slows...take Biotin and eat your protein...most importantly-stop stressing about it. That makes it worse!

Thanks for this post! I had surgery November 9th and my hair is also falling out! Unfortunately, I had very thin hair to begin with. I also take biotin, and mutli-vitamins. I am hoping that when I reach goal, it will stop! Thanks for easing my mind!
