I have had my lap band since Feb. 10 and I have 5cc in my band.  I go in for my 2nd fill in 2 weeks.  I have seem to have hit a plateau and haven't lost a lb. for 2 weeks.  I have lost 60 lbs. since surgery and 70 lbs. over all...so I'm VERY pleased with my results and LOVE my band but I was just wondering how long plateaus can last for people?

Plateaus sure suck don't they. You may want to shake things up a bit. Start excersising if your not already. If you are, switch up what your doing. Also, varying your calories each day is suppossed to help. For example, eat 1200 one day, 900 the next, 1500 the day after that et... Hang in there and know as long as you keep doing the right things that damn scale will move eventually. Best wishes.

They can last for awhile ! The previous poster is right you gotta mix it up apparently to move the scale again. I am currently thinking of doing a plateau buster diet to jump start my wt loss.I have been at this one weight FOREVER ! I will go down for a day or so then right back to it. My body LOVES this number :( I am almost tot onderland and want to be there by my vacation in about two months so I do not have alot ot loose to get there I just need to get there and be stable there! UGH.... I know how you feel though being stuck at one weight is crappy and gets you all down and it is hard to be positive when you are feeling like that! I also need a fill gotta make that appt this week. I have been saying that for about two weeks.lol

Hello

Before I started to exercise I had a plateau that lasted months...even after a fill.

After I started to workout the weight came off fast and furiously.  Of course plateaus still happen but they have yet to last more than two weeks.

I am pretty consistent with my food.  I eat lean protein and only complex carbs.  I cut all simple carbs and processed foods out of my diet.  I ate about 1200 calories and about 35 carbs a day.  I recently had to increase my calories and carbs because my workouts were too intense for my calorie intake and I was making myself sick.  So now I eat about 1400 and 60 carbs a day.  Exercise is great how many people do you know can eat more and still lose weight!!!

So when I hit a plateau I know it's not because I am eating badly.  It's because I need to change up my workout or increase the intensity.  I do that and I start losing again.

My doctor's definition of a plateau is "6 weeks of no weight loss or measurement loss" --- I would have been ready to shoot myself if that had happened to me -- LOL

2 weeks of the same weight is very natural --- especially with the great success you have had.
This time of year, as the weather starts to heat up is also particularly hard -- I think that we tend to retain fluid when the weather changes.

Hang in there -- clearly you are doing the right things -- maybe increase your fluid intake a ittle to see if you can flush out any excess fluid.

I know exactly how you feel! I had hit a plateau for almost 2 months ... ugh
I was banded 11-8-10 and hadn't had a fill until last Saturday. I work out at the gym 1 1/2 to 2 hours a day 6 days a week. When the scale wasn't moving I started to get discouraged after 4 weeks. I started eating things that I knew were not good for me. I lost 50 pounds by late March and by last week I had gained 8 pounds back.
I went and got my 1st fill (about 1cc) and have followed the "post fill" diet to a tee. Liquid protein shakes for 2 days, tomorrow I'll go on a soft diet for 2 days then back to normal.
I was excited to stop on the scale this morning to see 5 pounds off already )
Next time I hit a plateau I plan to follow the "post fill" diet even if I don't have a fill!
All I can say is don't give up....and don't go back to you old eating habits no matter what! You've gotten this far, you can do it. Just look in the mirror and believe in yourself Good luck
