well just got a call from my paient advocate and arizona state healthcare are denieing people that didnt lose weight on the six month doctor supervised diet.duah thats the reason for wls can't do it on my own frickin dumb asssssssssssss.if i could lose weight on my own i wouldn't need weight loss surgery so angry......... now i bhave to do another six month diet

You need to appeal that.  That is the dumbest thing I have ever heard.

sorry to read this. I know this will be tough to read but most likely the reason some insurance companies require the 6 month dieting is to see if you can follow a plan. Because there are LB eating rules that should be followed so that you lose your weight and remain healthy. This has been compained about often on here. I was only required by my Dr. to begin losing for about 3 months before surgery so that my liver would shrink in size and not be floppy during surgery. Keep focused and visit these boards often, best of luck

My insurance is the same way and my coworker was denied afor not losing weight.  That was over two years ago and she was just never able to bring herself to try again.  I was lucky enough to have been able to lose the weight.

I agree though it is stupid.  It's like asking a smoker to stop smoking before they will treat you for COPD or lung cancer.  DUH!!!!
