I totally AGREED with everyone. You SHOULD do something about that app. Or the next time they will do the samething. SMDH!!! I don't believe they did you that way. They can give you a card. I just recieved mine from the Lap-Band. I got a temporary card after surgery and then sent off for the real one. The more I read your post the more its ******G me off
You have to call them back and talk to someone  about that.

GOOD LUCK!!!

I can empathize.  I often get the feeling of being a second class patient because I got the band.

In fact, my surgeon is in the process of referring all his band patients to an internist for fills.. because his office is too busy to keep up with the volume.

This after his insurance clerk just told me a week ago at the end of support group that he's doing less and less bands?   Something is fishy here.

I think I'm going to see the internist one time and see how that goes.  But if I don't like her, I'm going to let my surgeon know.

It's weird when you go to a Doctor's website and the very first thing you see is a scripture quotation.  I'm not anti-religious by any means, but it sorta strikes me as strange and a bit unprofessional.  We'll see.. but if they start preaching to me, I'm out the door.

Sorry to hijack your thread.. The others are right, let the people in charge know how you are being treated.

Lisa, you hit it, they do make me feel like a second class patient, due to the band.  Its just not right.  I have a message for them to call me, but guess what, I haven't heard yet.  I will try to call back tomorrow.  I won't be an ass, but I do want them to understand, how offended i was....

thank you everyone for your kind words and no bull****!!

Hi Jamie

I'm sorry your appt went so poorly. Did you have a fill? I am wondering if the PA asked you if you felt dizzy if they took your bp and it was low.

My nut told me to aim for 1000 cal but it is not the be all and end all. It is more important to eat from a bread+butter plate 3 times a day. I am not supposed to snack at all.

My surgoen's clinic doesn't even do the bypass, only the band and the sleeve, and 90% choose the band, so there is no problem with mixups happening.

However I have type 1 diabetes and my PCP keeps asking me if I have type 2, or type 1. It is very frustrating when this happens and you have to keep explaining yourself.

I hope you get into your PCP soon and have some anti-depressants. Does your bariatric clinic offer counselling? I am getting into my clinic's psychologist in 4 weeks, and I badly need it.

Cat.

Wow, try to relax a bit.  You picked a surgeon and team that does what it seems like mostly RNY.  Maybe they were having a hectic day there?  You have to give people a chance - engage them and make a place for yourself.  Everything you processed seems to have a negative tone . . . and surprise surprise, you keep that flowing like a chain.  It means all that you encounter will have that stance.  Ah, energy.  It is like when you are angry, you are more likely make others angry, if you are sad, we mirror that, if you are nervous, it is more than likely that the person that you are dealing with will become uncomfortable.  If you have a positive attitude and expect good things - yes, you will encounter some slugs, but the majority of people will respond to you in a positive light.

Sorry, if you were looking for someone to bull**** you, I won't.

As far as depression meds?  You have to really be out of your mind to expect your bariatric surgeon to prescribe them for you.  "but they can't help w/ a weeks worth of depression meds, until I get in?  UGHHHHHHHHHH"  Are you kidding?  Do you know how much trouble is possible for any doc who just casually prescribes anti-depressants?  We get those calls all the time:  I am running out of psych meds can I get someone to prescribe for me? NOT!  If something happens to you or you ever got tied up in any litigation's  - guess what? they'd be liable for up to 7 years down the road for writing you that little prescription.  No sound minded medical professionals want to get caught up in litigation.  Oh Malpractice!

Get yourself a real psychiatric consult.  Our hormones are off the wall when losing weight( estrogen is being released from your fat cells).  You may need something especially with such heightened emotions.

Best,

Leila,

I'm not looking for anyone to bull**** me, as a matter of fact that is why I posted this.  But please understand, I posted this because I was very upset and I didn't and still haven't gotten the answers from my doc, so I was seeing if anyone else had this problem and if anyone could help me.  I get enough bull**** from my teenager, I don't need any more damn drama.  So thank you for being upfront and honest.  I am glad you posted this!  I'm being as honest as I can, thank you....

I was pissed, but more so very offended that they had not prepared for my visit with them.  Had I not prepared for every visit for them I wouldn't have gotten my surgery, so I expect the same amount of respect for my time as I had for theirs when I went in.  Yes it did make me mad.

I also work for a medical practice and I have been there for 10 years, it was very unreasonable for me to say, "can't they just give me a weeks worth" because at my practice we would say the same thing as you, "UGH right, your crazy" (no pun intended).  Like I said I was just mad.  That being said, "our hormones are off the wall", so you would think they would be better equiped to handle a situation like this right?  Maybe I expected more?  I have done a lot of research on the band, and I don't remember ever reading about the horomones doing this.  It has very much thrown me for a loop.

I didn't have a choice on the "team" I picked because I had not gone through w/ them, I wouldn't have had the surgery paid for and that wasn't an option.  I heard a lot of good things about them, needless to say, now that I look back, it was all bypass patients.

Thank you for being honest!
Jamie
