Almost my One Year Bandiversary!
I don't want to wait until Saturday to post this, I plan to be busy...
I wrote this in my blog today and copied and pasted to this post.
What a Difference A year Makes!

These photos weren't taken a year apart, but the 2009 photo is where I was when I started this journey a year ago.
I have learned so much this year.
I don't look at food the same way I did a year ago. I habitually make better choices and choose smaller portions...don't really think about it most of the time.
I find other ways to occupy my time. I actually planted our veggie garden the other day. I was trembling with pain in my back after 30 min, but I did it. I wouldn't have even considered it a year ago.
I am not in a hurry. I am enjoying being my current size and wearing some of the clothes I have had in my closet for 15 years...I have enjoyed giving my old clothes to a friend who is losing and weighs about 40 lb more than me.
I have learned that if I eat something that is not on my meal plan, it isn't the end of the world. I can make a good next choice without feeling guilty for indulging.
How I feel One Year Post-op
I feel accomplished. Yes, I had help, but this has been a lot of work and I did the work. My band won't work without me doing my part.
I feel relieved. This can work and it did work for me. As long as it continues to be effective, I will do my job and do what I need to do to continue to lose.
I feel fortunate. I am very fortunate to have had insurance to pay for my surgery and all of the pre-op testing. I am fortunate to have insurance that allows me to see my doctor for a $10 co-pay. I am fortunate to have insurance that will pay for my post-op care and a revision if necessary. I hope it won't be necessary, but it is good to know that I have a "plan B" should I need it.
I feel happy. For the first time in a long time, I am content and know that I am better able to care for myself and I am not so dependent on my sweet husband.
What are my Goals for the Next Year?
Continue to lose 1 lb per week on average. I would love to weigh 170 by this time next year. I am currently 220. I haven't weighed 170 since 1974.
Find an exercise routine I enjoy and can do regularly wherever I am.
Be able to walk 2 miles on the treadmill. I can currently do 1 mile with a lot of effort. I can't do it every time (pain) but I can do it.
Take my dog for a walk daily. 1 block or 12, I need to do this.

You really inspire me! I am working on about 4 1/2 months out. I have lost 30 plus pounds. I know I'm a slow loser, but I'm getting into the smallest of my closet of clothes, and I'm really happy with that. I am working the exercise part too. Now I'm within 5 lbs of the smallest I've ever gotten to in the last 10 to 15 years. Though I've gotten there several times. And I'm determined to break that barrier within the next 2 months and get down to ONEDERLAND. Like you, I have long and short term goals, though sometimes I haven't quite hit my time frame, I've hit them. I really like your realistic goals and you've inspired me to create more of my own. HAPPY BANDAVERISARY!
