Post op first week: Can I do it alone?
Thanks all for taking time to answer my questions. My new concern is the emotional support I may need. My mother is coming in September and she will stay for a month. Should I wait for her?
I am very impulsive and I like to get things done. I feel that I can't wait that long. Yes, I know, it is only 3 months.

I had outpatient surgery at age 51 --- (284 pounds and 5'6").
I could have done fine by myself (I drove myself to the library and grocery store the day after my surgery).
It was nice to have my husband the night of the surgery especially --- but after that, I was fine.
I was able to tolerate the pain/discomfort with just Extra Strength Tylenol -- so I was not on narcotics of any type.
I drove myself to my post-op checkup (which was 6 days after surgery).

I'm going to chime in here if you don't mind :)
I have a very supportive husband, but that is it. No other family or natural support in the area. My question is, I have two kids. 4 and 5 and they are crazy. They are a lot of work mostly because they do not get a long. (they are great when they are without their sibling.)
Do you ladies and gents think I can do the post op sucessfully. I worry about not being able to help care for the kids.
And OP: I'm right at the same weight as you, just a little shorter :)
Thank you!

I had my surgery on a Monday and was off that whole week. The next Monday was a holiday and I had that day off. The rest of the week I worked 4 hours a day was was back full time the following week. I was tired but was happy to be back at work. I;m a lucky person and love my job. I could have gone back full time the week after surgery but was able/lucky to only have to work 4 hours a day.
Please feel free to email any questions you may have. I would love to share my experience in hopes it helps you.
