I am condiering a lap band. I have done a lot of research but would like to know your opinion on the fills.
Do they hurt without being numb?
How long does it take for a fill.

They are quick and easy to me.  My doc offers a local numbing agent.  But with or without, it just sorta feels like a shot, and just takes a bit longer.

I am 9 months post op and I have had 4 fills.  My hubby has gone with me every time and he has watched the process.  I thought it would hurt SO MUCH, but really there is very little pain.  I feel a tiny pinch and then some pressure as she injects the saline...but no pain.  This last time I watched and it was no big deal at all.  IF you are afraid of needles, just don't look.  You will do fine :)

I just feel a pinch for the lidocaine needle as well...the rest is history (takes 1 minute literally).  You will be fine. :)  A very small part of the big picture.

Mine have never hurt, no numbing meds. It takes less only a few minutes, they have you lay down, alcohol the area, stick the very thin needle in, have you drink a little water, you're done.
Mari  Nothing tastes as good as being thin feels!

I have had about 4-5 fills and they don't hurt. I don't get numbed beforehand either. It literally takes about 15 seconds. No biggie after you get the first one over with. The first one is the hardest simply because you have no idea what to expect.

Seriously, fills are the easiest part for me.

I had my first fill on Thursday last week. It took about 30 sec and no numbing prior. The surgeon just lifted my top, felt the port site, rubbed alcohol on the site and put the needle in. I deliberately didn'****ch as I was terrified. The needle hurt a very tiny bit for a few seconds and I could feel her wriggle the needle a bit to get the right spot, but it wasn't a hurt feeling more like a dull movement feeling.

So if you are considering not getting a band because the fills might hurt, please reconsider.
