3d day post op, whats up with my bowels and bladder?

So I can barely pee.  Have to sit for awhile to get it going, then it is slow.  I feel like an old man with a prostate problem.  But the bowels... Yeah, they are working... OVERTIME!  What is up with this?  Is it the all liquids?  Please tell me it will stop soon?

Did you have a cathera in during surgery??? I did. The dr. said my urine would be a lil slow coming out but only for a few days. Its because your bladder has to get back together. I only had mine in while I was in surgery, but thats all it takes. Now the other thing, YES it will be working overtime for a few days. If you did a bowel prep, thats still working with all the liquids and fluids they gave you in the hospital. After a few days you might start getting constipated. I know for a week after my watery episode, I didn't have a BM. I found out I was constipated.
So Miralax for meBut it will get better, its just the beginning.

Thanks for the response.  As far as I know no catheter... but The trouble peeing thing makes me think yes.  And I did not have to do a bowel prep.  I am just thinking it is all the liquids.  But I wasnted to make sure it is normal.

I had diarrhea for 4 weeks during the pre-op and post-op period.  It slowly cleared up.

After general anaesthesia the body can go into urinary retention. It happened twice to me in previous surgeries (but not with my band 5 weeks ago). I had to have a catheter for 2-3 days each time and when it came out my peeing was slow too.
