hi guys,
do you have any advice? i have had 9mls in a 10ml sweedish band since mid jan and then had 0.25ml put in mid march so i now have 9.25mls just recently i feel everytime i sit to eat a meal i struggle as if it is stuck in my throat so then i stop eating my meal and last week i noticed i was snacking rather than eating proper meals and i don't want to get into this habit i have vomited a few times when i have sat down to eat a meal so i'm wondering is this all in my head? or do i need an unfill only problem is i'm scared i'll lose restriction if i get an unfill!!!!
Also when i'm at work i struggle as no one knows i've had the band and we only get 20 mins break so feel i rush so now i end up taking snack foods that are easy to eat as i'm worried i may vomit does anyone have any suggestions of what i could take? i'm thinking of taking slim fast in what do you think would much appreciate your advice

A shake at work for lunch is probably a good idea. I don't know about slimfast, they may be pretty high in carbs. I use myoplex lite carb control. I think you are just a little too tight. Don't hesitate to go in. I have been there, and suffered longer than necessary. Every time I have had a slight unfill, I still had restriction. Hope you feel better soon.

Let me understand... You have a 10ml band  that you got in Jan and you already have 9ml in it?  Really? seems like a very large amount to have especially so soon...but maybe my math is wrong...  Okay time restraints on your lunch time at work, you are suppose to be able to eat what you need with the band within 20mins, my Dr says if you cant then chances are you are too tight (talking to me).  If the time allotment is not enough at work for you to eat what you need and you don't feel to tight, maybe consider taking something else for lunch that is high in protein and more liquid, be it soup  or even the occasional protein shot. (some don't like to use these but I have found them very helpful)

As far as what you are describing when you eat....You need to talk to your Dr. The longer it stays too tight, the greater the risk for injury and more complications.  Honest.  I get the idea of wanting to maintain restriction, I get the idea of the cost, I get the idea of the time involved....but u know what...if you don't fix it now...it will cost you more of each of these in the future.  Start with a phone call to your Dr and tell them what you just told us...go from there and keep us posted. :)

just keep swimming,

I'm a teacher and only get 30 minutes to eat lunch.
I find that if I eat the food I bring over the course of the day, and snack on the food, I'm much better off. I can't eat too much at once cuz I do feel like the food gets stuck. Plus if I don't concentrate on chewing I am in real trouble.

I'd recommend soft foods during the day like yogurt, and maybe some cheese to keep you going for energy.  Also, I drink fluids all day long to keep me feeling full ....More liquid is good, and I also like having soup on hand .....

u sound great though.....keep up the awesome work....

Honestly, you should not be settling for soft foods, slider foods, and shakes because real meals make you stuck. That is a clear indication you are too tight. It seems a *slight* unfill might do the trick. They can take out very minimal amounts if needed (.25 ml, .50 ml, etc.). Often, even the slightest unfill can change everything for the better and get you to the "sweet spot." That was the case for me, they took out .50 ml when I was a bit too tight and that was my "sweet spot." That was 18 months ago and I have had perfect restriction ever since.

Again, I wouldn't cater my diet around being too tight by eating yogurts and shakes all the time (it is really dangerous to stay tight and can cause a myriad of problems). I would call my doctor for a *slight*, little baby unfill (LOL) and see if that helps. You can always have a little put back in if you end up to loose. It takes patience to find the "sweet spot." :) Good luck!
