I have had my Band for 4 years. I have not went to my Doctor in a LONG LONG time to have a check up and I know he will fuss when I do. (I have a hard time taking off work and driving long distance to go). And I'm kinda if its not broke kinda person.. and I have been great. Anyway.

Today I have a problem  have never expierenced and I'm a little worried.

I have pain two inches or so above my belly button like someone had hit me and I can't eat hardly anything. It don't come back up but when I do eat it feels like I'm so full I'm about to bust after just a bite or two. I have never felt this way and I'm worried about a slipped band or something like that.

I know this could just be a bug going around or something, but it still worries me.

Any advise will be great...

It could be a bug, Michelle, but it also sounds like a possibility of a hernia. The pain is too low (from what you explained) to be a band slip or something along those lines (yet your other symptoms with eating sound like that is a possibility as well). Is it directly in the center or to the left a bit where your port is? Of course, I am not a doctor...just offering some possible causes and suggestions. Good luck and I'm sorry you're in pain. If it continues, you might have to bite the bullet and make the trip to your doc, toots. I know, boo on that! lol

P.S. Congrats on your success!!!! That is great!

Cheers.

I am a Band fill RN in Washington.
Perhaps you have something stuck in your stoma.

If you have severe pain and are vomiting and unable to drink or eat anything you need to get ahold of your doctor NOW.

You could have eaten something that is stuck in your stoma preventing food from going down or severly slowing the progress.  If that is the case and you continue to eat without vomiting you could be stretching out your pouch.

Are you able to swallow and keep liquids down? Are you able to swallow your own spit?
Have you vomited or "slimmed" since you posted?

This is what I recommend to my patients.
If you are unable to keep liquids down you need to get to your clinic and get an unfill!!.

If you have vomited or slimmed but  able to keep liquids down, stay on liquids for 48 hours to let your pouch settle down and decrease the swelling that is causing your stoma to swell and hopefully let the stuck object through.

If after 48 hours you are still unable to get food down you should go to your clinic.

My office uses flouroscope for each fill and unfill. It allows me to give my patients a safe fill and see if there are any problems with the pouch or band.

Hope you feel better!
