At the seminar I went to, the surgeon buttoned the band between a lip made from the stomach,, was this not done in times past? or can it slip even though it gets anchored down>??

What a story! I am so glad that it had a happy ending. When you get a chance let your original surgeon know the results. Perhaps have Dr. Machado send a report as well. Glad it worked out, but YIKES!

@ Grider- I have a PPO insurance, I know that the insurace will not pay for the EGD done prior to surgery so I just got my bill for that procedure. As for the rest I will have to wait for the EOB's to see what I owe.

@ Granny- I already have the op report and picture Dr. Machado's office gave this to me when I was seen for my follow up on Monday.

@ Mary- Dr. Machado is the surgeon I researched for my sister two years ago when she was having problems with her surgeon and insurance trying to get approval. My sister is scheduled for her lap band 6/23.

What a horrible experience, but I am glad to hear Dr. Machado was able to help. I work at Mercy San Juan and have heard many great things about her; the main reason I chose to be referred to her. Hoping to be approved for my WLS before the end of summer...Still not sure about lap band or bypass surgery? Why did you choose the band?
