Stalling on the scale.

Okay...so here's the deal I need everyones opinion on if I'm not eating enough calories or if I'm just panicing for no reason.

So... I have weighed for the last 3-4 days the same exact thing, I've not budged on the scale at all. It's so frustrating. 284.8 is the weight I'm at.

My day...I wake up early, exercise about 35-40 minutes cardio. According to my polar heart monitor I average 225 calories give or take a few. I then have a protein shake. I average 60-100 grams of protein and then 800-1000 calories a day. I'm not sure how much water I drink I haven't really been monitioring it.

SO Question...
Should I increase my calories? Should I wait it out (And if I do wait it out how long is an appropriate amount of time to wait before doing something?)  AND how much water do I need a day? I mean I know 64 ounces crap but don't most people drink a lot more to loose weight?

3-4 days???  That's not even a week.  There will be plateaus and they may last longer than a week.

As far as your calorie intake I wouldn't go below 1000 calories.  Espeically, if you are exercising.  I recently had to increase my calorie and carb intake because of my exercise.  Even with exercising 6 days a week, about 9 hours a week.  I have plateaus.  I think we all do.  When I hit a plateau I don't decrease my calorie intake or anything like that.  What I do that works for me is I increase the intensity of my work out.  I don't make them longer because God knows 90 minutes is enough already.  I just increase the speed or the incline on my treadmill.  That works for me and I'm losing again.

3-4 days really isn't very long, especially if you've recently had a large loss. I would keep doing what your doing for now. If it continues another 3-4 days then you might want to tweek things. Are you eating carbs? I have found cutting way back on carbs really helps with weight loss. That's great you are working out, keep that up for sure. Best wishes.

Try stalling for four to six weeks at a time that is no fun :o(

All you can do is do what you are doing.  I did have to increase my calories. I can not lose if I go below 1000 a day.

I eat between 1000-1400 per day .    My NUT said when you exercise eating less then 1000 calories per day is not enough calories .

I also had to increase my carbs. My carbs was way to low I have to have between 50-80 per day.  If I go less then that I get sick during my workouts and afterwards. And your body does need carbs to survive you cant cut them out completely .

I stall about every three months for a good two to three weeks and  I have even went as far as six weeks stalling   then I start losing again .

All I can do is do what I'm doing and the weight will have to come off eventually :o)

Between my crystal lite and pure water during workouts I drink about a gallon a day

Yummm yeah... a 3 to 4 day stall would be great. I second Steelerfan -- those suckers can last a loonnnng time! I'm in one now

For me, I certainly would not eat any fewer calories than you are now. Upping my protein intake usually helps me break a stall, but I have been so bad about it lately. On most days are you closer to 60 or 100 grams?  My doc recommends staying closer to 80, and when I'm trying to break a stall I try to do closer to 90 -- again really hard to eat that much and I haven't found a protein shake I can stand yet.

Hang in there!

I'd say on my most days I'm closer to 1000 calories. I rarely ever end up on the lower side of the scale.

As for protein I'd say in the middle like most days I shoot for 80ish but sometimes it's more or less depending how much I could eat that day.

I love protein shakes, only if REALLY cold.

I'll just wait it out, I'll start measuring my water to see how much I get daily. As for calories I'll just stick with 1000 and maybe shoot for a range of 1000-1200.

Sweetie, you're panicking for no reason.

I'm not saying this to belittle your concerns - not at all.  But if your scale moved every 3 or 4 days, you'd be Barbie in a few months.

Stay off the scale for a few days, stick to your successful routine, and surprise yourself with a number in a few days.

Although it's been hard, I'm only weighing myself once a week (at least for this week).  I too was at a stall and driving myself crazy.  So next Monday is my next weigh in day, and hopefully that darn scale will move down!  Good luck.  I feel you frustration!
One day at a time, and one meal at a time, and I WILL reach my goal!
