1st fill
I was banded on 3/29 and so far have lost about 25lbs. I had my 1st fill on 5/11. I know that it can take several fills before you hit your sweet spot but I really thought that I would be able to tell a difference. since the fill, I feel more hungry and can eat more more than I did before I had the fill. Is this normal? I don't go back for another fill until June 21. Any advice????
I had 4ozs on my first fill...No restriction...Then a 2 fill then a 1 and then .50 and it was the .50 is what made the difference.
Keep your mind in the game. Set your goals and stick to them. It will take a few months to get there and yes there is that small chance you will never get there (just being real) but there is an even better chance you will.

You are probably experiencing your band for the first time without the swelling from surgery. That's why you may feel like you have less restriction after your fill. Just keep measuring your portions and make sure you are getting in all of your protein. (60-80 grams). That's the best way to feel full without over-doing the recommended portion size.
Wait 30 minutes after each meal, but then make sure you are getting in your 64 oz of no calorie liquids. That will help tide you over between meals.
If you are still truly hungry plan a snack. Notice I say PLAN a snack. That's the only way I could eat between meals, (if I needed to), and still maintain control. If I don't have a plan I will make a bad choice every time!
Hang in there. It's common for surgeons to give fills every 4-6 weeks.

It may take a while for any fill to kick in, from 2-3 weeks, sometimes. I just had a fill on the 13th after being down to 2.5cc since the end of Dec. I don't feel anything, either, which is rare for me since I am quite sensitive to fills. It is just too soon to tell. The thing I know from experience is like Lisa says, just because we CAN eat more doesn't mean we should. Right now I am concentrating on eating appropriate amounts, keeping my carbs low so I won't have the cravings (that is an individual thing), and getting my fluids and protein in. I am hungry enough between meals that I have to schedule a protein or fruit snack between. So be it. If I don't feel any difference in a couple more weeks I will call for another fill. Just hang in there, you can do it!
