LEFT ARM PAIN HELP!!!
there is some pain there after surgery but since its been a week for you it should be getting better then worse I would think.
Have you tried putting a heating pad on it to see if that helps any ? I know heat helps alot with muscle pain I use it all the time for cramps .
I never did get the shoulder pain, but if you are trying everything I would probably call your doc and see what he says and maybe he can give you a higher dose of meds to help with the pain.
Hope it gets better for you really soon !!!!

I put heat on it last night and it seem to help a little.. I called the doctor and they said it's normal and that's all.. They never gave me any medication for pain.. Suggested Tylenol or Advil which doesn't seem to help.. The Pain is getting worse and not better.. The only thing that's gotten better is the lump in my chest seems to have gone down.. Thank you
Hi again,
I can tell you that Tylenol never helped me at all with the shoulder pain. The diaphragm is the part that is affected and for some reason, pain relievers simply don't help with the referred diaphragmatic pain. It's weird, I know! I was even put on Morphine and Fentanyl to try to help with the chronic left shoulder pain I had from diaphragmatic damage (2 + years of daily, nonstop left shoulder pain! Gawd, it was the worst.) Nothing helped except heat... a little bit... and in MY case, having the band removed.
BUT you're early out, try to hang in there because chances are it will dissipate really soon!!!
It seems that SOME people are helped by pain meds, so maybe you should ask your doc to prescribe something for you to at least try to relieve the pain.

hmm gosh they gave me some pain meds to take home with me , I never did use them so I use them for my montly cramps if they are really bad lol.
Have you tried some icy hot ? My son plays football and when his muscles hurt after a workout he uses that . Maybe rubbing that in and that in will help also for you :o)

Your dr. didn't give any pain meds to come home with!!! Thats just CRAZY!!! I came home with liquid loratab, motrin and phenergan. He should of given you something. Did they give you pain meds in the hospital??
If it were me, I would call him back and DEMAND some pain meds (they have to be liquid, it works faster and is easy to go down). Tylenol is not going to help your pain. The heat is a good idea, but I know you more relief.
I have chronic shoulder pain (not from surgery). Its from my neck injury. I have been on everything. I now take Lyrica for my pain. It just makes it to where I can cope. But for you, you shouldn't be just sitting there in all that pain. I would really call him. He should give to something and not tell you to just take tylenol or advil. SHM!!!!

If it's trapped gas then it will soon dissipate, but if it's diaphragmatic pain like I have then it will have to be removed. At this early stage it's more then likely trapped gas.
Feel better soon.
