Ohh Renee-
I can SOOOO relate, after my 2nd fill I had quite a few stuck episodes it was ROUGH!   It has really forced me to pay much better attention to my chewing.  I had 2 MAJOR stuck episodes within a week and one thing I did not do for myself enough was take a day of liquids to let the swelling go down, so i would recommend you try that, give your band a break!

I also have found that fish is NOT my friend after my latest fill... too dry!!

It is an adjustment every day......the excitement of the band!! LOL

Good Luck!
~Anna

The band may not be perfect, but it will be perfect for me!

I had a MAJOR food sticking incident back in November (I seriously concidered an ambulance I was in that much pain. My sternum felt like it was cracking in half) I have a high pain tolerance and actually have to assess what is wrong with me to realize I am in pain many times. So I knew this was bad.

The panic, I think, was the worst. I had to remind myself that I could breath, I had help if I needed it and it wouldnt kill me (it reminded me of choking except the ability to breath). I laid my head on a toilet and allowed everything to water (my nose, my eyes my mout---I was a mess). It took a bit but it finally moved and I was able to take itsy bitsy sip of water at a time to help it move more.

Im glad it came up for you. I had to take it easy for a long time because of the swelling from my band area being swollen after. I ate soft foods for a few days and had to have an unfill. (Right before the holidays, can I tell you I was discouraged after? It sucked.)

Poor thing!

You need to go on fluids for 24 hours after a stuck.  Each time you get stuck it causes more swelling and you are more at risk for another stuck episode!  3 stucks in 3 days is telling me you didn't go on fluids.  Give your stoma time to "rest" and let the swelling go down.

I have only been stuck 4x's in almost 2 years and each time it was on too dry of food.

I can eat chicken, but I make sure I have some fresh salsa or sauce to coat it with.

My stuck episodes have lasted up to 2 hours and it's pure He ll.  I never want to get stuck ever again.

Don't give up on chicken, just maybe try it in the future with some BBQ sauce or lite ranch or fresh salsa.  It's a great source of protein.  I do understand not wanting to eat something that you got stuck on.  It took me 16 months to try a 93% hamburger again after my very first stuck episode.  I used lots of sauce last night.  I was very careful.  Not sure when I want to eat another one, but I did it. haha

WOW!  It is so good to come here, get questions answered and feel kinda normal.  Like you are not alone in this world of un-banded people.  I too, just had my 2nd fill 5cc's in a 10 cc band. Be careful what you ask for.  I wanted to feel restriction.  Boy did I get it!  I also choked on chicken and as I looked at it for the 2nd time (you know what I mean).  I realized I need to focus on chewing.  Prior to the 2nd fill I had no problems.  Maybe now I can work my band.  We live and learn-don't we?  I learned that I don't want to do that and the sore throat lasts for a couple of days after the regurgitation.

Good luck to everyone and keep up the hard work!    Cuz this is not a cakewalk.  (Why do all puns have food references?)

Let me join the "Yes I got stuck too" group.  Someone on OH told me to cut my meat into english pea size bites, chew, chew, chew, and put your fork down between bites.  Now my bites were small, but NOT THAT SMALL.  It worked!  I still walk around dense proteins on eggshells, but the advice hasn't failed me yet.  Plus if I'm honest, I'm a slow learner in the "fast eating, big bites" department.  I'm a work in progress.

YAY!  Glad that worked for you Debbie.  I do it TO THIS DAY, everytime I eat.  :)

My doc really wants us to go back to full liquids for 24 hours after any type of 'stuck' episode that causes us to 'refund food'.

The fact that you have had issues '3 times in 3 days' tells me that you should probably get back to liquids for a day -- and then see how you do -- maybe go in for a small unfill.

When I resist going back to liquids, I seem to have episodes day after day also -- I have to surrender and let things heal up -- and that takes time.

Good luck ---
Kath

That happens to me quite a bit.  FOr me I feel a huge air bubble in my throat and I know I am in trouble.  I start to slime bad and then run to the bathroom and waa laa instant relief.   I know its so gross.  Its strange .. some days I can eat a burger and others I can't eat yogurt without PBing.

15 minutes throwing up though.. yikes.  I know with me its one quick PB and its over.  I usually can't even make to the bathroom and yes its embarrasing.  Stay on liquids for 24 hours.  Poor thing.
