Ouch! Ouch! Ouch!

OK, so I posted this on the Realize Band forum, but wanted to cross post it here as both bands are pretty much the same.  I'm coming up on 6 months post op, and until Saturday, I have been pretty much complication free. However, on Saturday, I started having s sharp hot pain just above and to the left of my belly button. That day it was not too big of a deal -- about like a quick hot pin ***** Then yesterday, it increased in severity. Now it feels like a hot ripping, tearing sensation that lasts between 5 and 20 seconds each time it happens. It isn't constant, but does happen several times a day (maybe 20 or so times through out the day). If I lay flat and press on the spot, I feel a large lump under my fle**** is in near proximity to the incision where my port was placed, but I know where my port has been accessed during fills and it is not that place. I'm wondering if it is possible that my port has dislodged and is moving around? I don't think it's a galstone issue because of location, but I've never experienced galstones personally so maybe it's refered pain? I have no fever. The area isn't hot to the touch. Maybe hernia if not my port? I just don't know?? My Doc doesn't come here until June 3rd (which isn't too long to wait if this is no big deal, but I don't even know if I should be worried or not?) and I do have an appointment to see him -- I was just wondering if anyone could offer some advice or has had a similar experience? I am so happy with my band (I've lost 73Lbs since it was placed) and don't want to lose it -- I think that's my biggest fear regarding the pain I am experiencing. Any advice/help would be appreciated. Thanks

I am 99% sure the "lump" you are feeling is your port (mine is in that exact location and I can feel it under the incision when I lie down). If this pain came on suddenly like this, it sounds like something happened (possibly a flipped port, or infection..there are a lot of things it could be). Get to a doctor IMMEDIATELY. You don't want to mess around with things like this. Time is of the essence. Call your surgeon right now and get in to see him on an emergency basis. The sharp pain and burning are NOT normal. Please keep us updated and good luck!

Edited to add: I would not worry about losing your band, okay? The port issues are separate and can be fixed independently.

Thanks. I'm calling my Doc. My port was originally  3-4" lower and about an inch more to the left -- but maybe after losing weight, the location seems different? I will let you know what the doc says. I appreciate your response and especially letting me know that the port (if that's the issue) can be repaired seperately and that I don't have to worry about losing my band.

I've had both my port becoming loose and gallstones. I haven't lost my band. But contact your surgeon ASAP. Good luck and keep us posted. K

Just got a call back from my doctor's PA and she said that Dr Cirangle said that he thinks I'll be fine to wait until the June 3rd to see him, but if the pain becomes more severe or constant to the point where I can't stand it, that I can call and schedule a sooner emergency appointment. He doesn't sound too worried, so I feel better about that. I will let you know what he says on the 3rd. Thanks for the advice, help, and support! I love this forum!
