Hey Everyone,

Long time lurker here, occasional poster, huge fan of OH and this board

I meant to post this yesterday but life got caught up with me, so I figure a day late is better than never!

Four years ago yesterday I made a decision that changed my whole life.  I flew to Mexico and was banded by the fantastic Dr. Roberto Rumbaut and his wonderful team.  This really was a life changing decision for me and one I would make again in a heartbeat.

The simple facts are that I started this journey at 334lbs...I have lost 134lbs, gone!  I used to wear a 28-30 and today I am in size 12's and 14's - depending on the style, cut and label!  I do have measurements that I have tracked, but not to hand so maybe I'll do another post on that another day.

I am 5'11" so whilst some days I do get caught up on not really, fully breaking the 200lbs barrier - as I hover around there, I do have to concede my height plays a part here.

My life has changed in so many big and small ways over the past four years its hard to count every single way the band has made my life better.  But it has!  I feel different.  I no longer walk around feeling ashamed at my size and how I look.  I am even starting to feel a little sexy and have started playing the flirting and dating game in recent months - something I would never have had the confidence to do before.

There are days when I do get caught up on the fact that I am not at goal - but I know that's more to do with me than the band.  I don't exercise as much as I should - although I am getting better!  I still occassionaly make bad food choices - the band wasn't put around my brain unfortunately!  LOL

BUT!  I am still in a much better place than I was four years ago!  Even on the days when I feel like the old me, the labels in my clothes tell a different story.  This was a LIFE changing decision I made...LIFE - as in the rest of it!  It took me more than 4 years to get to 334lbs so its OK, for me, that I am following the turtle route here and taking the slow and steady path to a healthier ME for the FUTURE!

LOL Maybe a reason I don't post often is I waffle too much!  So I'll add some pics now - because I always like looking at other peoples - and hit the submit button.

Everyone on here is an inspiration - keep up the great, great work!

I've posted some pics on here before so I'll try and add some different ones

This is me about 1 year before surgery, probably slightly higher than my starting weight even

I actually cried when I saw this next photo, probably my highest and about 6 months maybe before surgery

Christmas 2007; 7 months post-surgery about 60lbs down
New Years 07

One year out; down about 90lbs

2 years out; my first pair of size 16 jeans in a very, very long time!!!

3 years out - this was my lowest, I got down to 189lbs here but was too tight, so had a slight unfil and am now around the 200lb mark - I will get back down again though!  :)

Here's a full shot from the same time - Christmas 2009

Christmas 2010 - 200lbs

February 2011 - did a lot of travelling this month and went down to about 195lbs, but those pesky 5lbs crept back on when I got back!  LOL but they will come off again, I know!  :)

We had a photo shoot - I've never done this before it was so much fun, and she made me look good!  Aside my baggy trousers round my hips that I was trying to keep out of the water!  LOL

II normally hate my pic - but this woman was fab!

So people - thank you for allowing my indulgance and I hope you are as happy with your bands as I am with mine :)

Wow! That's an amazing transformation. You look so fabulous now, and at your height, 200 lbs is actually a reasonable weight - you wear it well, anyway!

So glad you posted -- you look terrific -- so very happy! This journey is just so amazing. I don't think you should be worried at ALL about the 200 barrier. Goodness you look fantastic -- not  overweight at all.

Congratulations!  You look so vibrant and happy!    On a selfish note, your sharing of the pictures really helps to keep me inspired.  (I am at the 5th week post surgery and a long way to go yet.)

Thank you!

Congrats on your 4th bandiversary!  Love your now pics,  you look so happy and love your smile!  I appreciate you sharing your success with this board.  I think a lot of people that were banded several years ago are out living their lives and don't post much.  It helps the newbies to see that it's not all doom and gloom with our bands.  I am so thankful for my band and appreciate everyday the increased health that it has helped me achieve.

You look happy.  It was not all band, you had to work with your tool.  Keep up the good work.  Take care, Z and yes I am happy with my band.
