I had a hiatal hernia removed along with the lab band surgery.  It was no big deal.

Thanks, Barbara.  The surgeon said he would take a look and if it needed tending to he would.  He also said he would look at my gallbladder and if it looked "angry" he'd take that too.  Don't know how much this inpacts on recovery...?

It shouldn't make it much harder than a regular band surgery, maybe just a bit sorer for a little longer. I had a hernia fixed with my band surgery and then had my GB out this year they were about the same as far as pain and healing time.

Thanks!  I had my appendix out about 10 years ago, but it's all a blur!  All i know is i think my stomach is going to look like a roadmap!

I had my gallbladder out about 3 weeks before my LapBand.  When Dr. G did my band, he used most of the same holes as for the gallbladder.  So I have 5 small incisions, but I wouldn't say I look like a roadmap!  The hiatal hernia was repaired during the LapBand surgery, and I didn't know anything about it until it was over.  It was no biggie.

I also had a hernia removed during band surgery that I didn't even know I had.  It got rid of the nausea that we'd been trying to find the reason for...BONUS!

I had a hernia repaired during my surgery this past Wed. I had no idea I even had a hernia, my doctor said he usually repairs 2 out of 5 paitients. My doctor also told me unless the gallbladder is real bad he would not touch it to cut down risk of infection around the band. good luck!!
