My Band is paying me back (NSV)

I have to say that I have so much more confidence professionally than I ever had before.

I know the same amount about my job -- but I am much more confident in giving presentations and walking in to our client sites and addressing their top management.

Last week, following my performance review, I decided to question my worth to the organization.

I made a list of my recent accomplishments, and I approached my boss about a promotion/pay grade change.

He resisted -- and in the past, I would have dropped it --- but this time, I replied to him and his superior, and yesterday I had a meeting with them.

I walked out of the meeting with a 2-grade level promotion and a large pay raise.

In July, my entire team is going to be reviewed and promoted as a result of my presentation.

My band is paying me back!!!!

That's fantastic, Kath!

When I was obese, I had a high-falutin', high-responsibility, high-stress, high-paying job and most of the time I had this secret feeling that I didn't deserve all that. I don't think that feeling was 100% related to my obesity, but it wasn't until the excess pounds were gone that I was able to feel that I deserved my professional success. Then when I went to meetings and industry events I wasn't trying to be invisible all the time, and I got better treatment by my peers and superiors because my fear was gone.

I gotta say, a 2-grade level promotion and a large pay raise is a big, big deal these days. My husband's performance appraisal is always great, but he hasn't had a raise in 4 years.

Good going!

Jean
