Ahh relief....

My current Dr is closing his practice in my state and I found a new guy to take me on. Since I've had increasing restriction and nightime regurgitation and reflux without a fill over the past several weeks I figured it was a good time to meet the new Dr and get an unfill.
His method is slightly different than what I've had before with fills and unfills. After accessing the port and allowing all the fluid that backed out into the syringe on its own from the built up pressure, he had me sit up with the syringe still sticking in my belly and had me chug water as fast as I could. Since it felt like a rock in my chest he then had me stand, encouraged me to burp if I needed to and then chug a 2nd cup of water which finally went down smoothly without feeling like it was trapped in my esophogus.
All in all 2cc were removed, he was hesitant to remove more since he didn't want me to deal with hunger, but he did want to stop the reflux. And I can happily report last night was the 1st night in two weeks that I wasn't woken up by choking on acid despite not taking an acid reducer pill.
Dr. Horgan used to have me do that, too... the sitting up with the needle sticking out. It would kinda freak me out a little!
You're going to feel so much better, Michelle. I'm glad you found a new doc who could help.

He did say I had a significant amt of scar tissue from the original surgery, the port replacement, and the multiple failed attempts at port access. I hope the scar formation slows down or stops since we think thats what caused the sudden over tightening of my band.
I've been on a medication called Dexilant and it has been a lifesaver for gastritis and all the other "fun" stuff going on in my guts. I notice a huge difference.
I like that you were able to have dinner AND sleep without waking up choking!

I really liked his guy, we had a very interesting discussion about all the surgery types. Plus he gets props for wanting to handle all of his aftercare and not turf ing it off on a nurse or office manager.
