I was formerly on a different forum site asking for assistance in finding bariatric surgeons in the Jacksonville FL area. I have talked with Dr. Baptista's office and they recently tripled their rates. I am self pay have had the band for 3 years. When I stated on my last forum about Dr. Baptista's rate increase I was brutally attacked in the forums, harassed, called awful names, accused of things I never thought possible etc.
I was having some complications recently after being 3 years post op and went to the ER as recently as last night where because I can eat and drink they refused to do anything but tell me to find a Dr. I am more than willing to go more into my situation but would rather do so privately as previously I was ridiculed and would like to prevent that.
So far the only Dr.s I have heard great things about are Baptista (who I can't afford) and Cywes (which I am waiting to hear back from the program coordinator). If anyone else could offer some words of wisdom regarding their surgeon; I have a list of phone numbers I can easily cold call but I feel personal experiences from other patients are MUCH more helpful.

I'm with Tiffany and Steelersfan...this forum is NOT about building friendships with people who share lap band experiences, or to advise those seeking help, or to have a place to go to vent things; this is an all-girls "I am too anti-social to live outside of my computer and have to prey on anyone I can to feel good about myself" forum. I would have figured she would have presented things in a much better way (more intelligently) if she were a con-artist. Such as: why not say she had been to the ER already and make up a story on how she can't afford to get the band fixed opposed to saying she's is not sure what is wrong IF anything is with her band. Why go into so much detail and admit shortcomings/mistakes when telling a "sob-story" to pull at people's purse strings? I watch ID Investigations (crime stories) all the time and I see people getting conned everywhere, some "play dumb" those people don't have the intelligence to wait around on a forum for 3 years to start the con. Others are incredibly intelligent and would work up a very tight no holes back story maybe even one that is 3 years in the making. (Sorry for this Tiffany) She wasn't smart enough to be the latter. She was far too misinformed about some things (medically/technically speaking) but far too knowledgeable about the day to day living aspects in which only someone going through it would ever be able to explain, even when not explaining it "correctly". I could tell she was being informed more through these forums and from basic google searches after certain things were brought up here; I'd think a con-artist would have already known all of that. Plus she was kind to other people when responding to things that had nothing to do with her personal situation or money. She helped a few people too.
From what I gathered she said she was working, done making excuses, needed a Dr, but lived on a budget and wanted a good doc within a price range she could afford. Doesn't everyone research things of that nature, unless of course you are rich and price doesn't matter.

Which likely would have been a much wiser idea and even justified the accusations and treatment had she said yes. Considering she never asked and no one actually offered she is paying for sins never actually committed. Logically speaking, all of you are forming these accusations on an idea or a past history from someone else and there is not even ONE thing that could undeniably be used as proof of her committing a con.
NM- this issue began with you accusing her of wanting to con people then you contradicted yourself later saying you were upset because she badmouthed and disrespected your Dr.. How does disrespecting your Dr. automatically lead to conning people for money? I can see your point on some things yes, but I can also see hers and she has much more proof of being wronged here than any of you do. She is one person with about 7 people calling her names and making fun of her for the past 24 hours, she even shuts off her account and yet this forum post has everyone in this frenzy of hatred and has more views and posts than any other post on the entire website dedicated to HELPING PEOPLE.
Should I have gotten involved; no, but at the same time I was sitting there and this was nagging me most of yesterday and all of last night.

If you believe ANY of what you have written, you need to call someone to place you on a 72 hour hold for a psych eval because you may actually be a danger to yourself or others.
And the other answer about how you got caught is that con artists are not ALWAYS smarter than their marks...that's why they go to jail. Maybe not all of them, maybe not right away, but they go...
