First Fill = Ouch.

Went for another follow up today.  At my last appointment, I was unable to get a fill b/c I had developed a seroma around the port and was still pretty tender from surgery.  Today, I finally got a fill, but not without a lot of torture.  The PA stuck me 3 times, even under floroscopy.  He finally had to use the big needle and guide it in under floro.  It still didn't go right in and he had to keep angleing the needle differently to reach the center of the port.  Ouch!   He put in a little more fluid than he usually does, but said that he felt I should get a lot out of this visit.  He was very nice and said that I was a real trooper.  It still hurt, though.  I will have to have to use the larger needle until I lose more weight.  If that's not an incentive to stick to the rules and exercise more, I don't know what is!

Sorry your first fill was such a bad experience. I hope the next ones go a lot better. I've found that different people are better at it than others. My Dr is actually worse than the PA. LOL  Good luck with the new fluid in your band.
Mari  Nothing tastes as good as being thin feels!

I had my first fill on 4/19/11 and didn't feel a thing.  I was very, very surprised!  My surgeon is great!  I'm hoping that the subsequent fills will be the same. Sorry you had such a bad experience.

Well the good news is he was able to give you a fill...congrats!!! I have had a few fills and one unfill over the years and no two where quite the same only one was very painful and had to be done standing up.............

It should get better, now I don't even have to do a crunch or squeeze for them to get to the port it kinda just sticks out now LOL!!!!

Thanks!  I am feeling much better today.  Only a little sore today, despite some bruising.  My PA assured me that it would get better as time goes on.
