I agree a little tough love is in order here ! You need to get in to see your surgeon asap and talk about fill options and maybe start with getting very conservative ones til you have a little restriction. The band will not anything for you if you do not use it. It is only a tool and if you do not keep up with your aftercare and fills etc you will be hungry and will not lose weight. I would get back to talk to your Dr and see what he feelsi your options are  before calling it unsuccessful  ! Most of us here have had both fills and unfills over time to get and maintain the right restriction. That does not mean it is not successful it is adjustable for a reason. You can do it .:)

It was directed to the ORIGINAL POSTER . IF it was directed at you I would have directly replied to you like I did this time. Sorry you are frustrated tho!

Hugs! There are a LOT of us that have failed bands. I would suggest going to the FAILED LAP-BAND GROUP and posting:

www.obesityhelp.com/group/failed_lap_bands/

There is info on there to report your failed band to the FDA. I also have info to report it to EES if you have a Realize band. If yours is the Lap-Band I will be posting contact info in the next few days to Allergan reports as well. Do NOT just post your band failures with the manufacturers though! Report them also to the FDA!!!

A couple of thoughts. Yes, see if you can make an appointment with your original doctor and go see him/her. If you get the runaround, see a new doctor. You are in charge -- not the doctor. As someone said earlier -- you have to be your own advocate, whatever the health issue.

Also, I'll quote Tom from over on the Realize board. Go back to basics. Just do liquids for a period -- maybe a few days, maybe a week, maybe more. Just make sure you get enough protein. And remember all the rules and go back to following them -- drink lots of water, eat small portions, cut food into tiny bites and eat them slowly, with time in between each bite (that's the hard one for me!)

Hope that helps.

I think it's time to stop kicking yourself, especially because it sounds like you haven't gotten adequate education, support, and aftercare from your surgeon. "What type of foods should I eat?" is one of the most basic questions that your surgeon and/or nutritionist should have answered for you a long time ago.

If I were you, I'd schedule an appt with the surgeon and tell him/her what's going on, ask for specific suggestions regarding foods, re-filling your band, etc., and don't leave that office until you have a plan worked out.

Good luck,
Jean

""What type of foods should I eat?"

Are you saying your doctor/his office never told you?
