I know there are slow losers but is there anyone that has achieved a significant weight loss up to this point, that did not lose the first few months of being banded? I am just wondering if anyone else struggled early on until they had a fair level of restriction and multiple fills before much loss, but have since taken off out of the gate and are definitely losing regularly and such.
I lost 12 pounds on the pre-op. After surgery I didn't lose anything for about 5 months. After 5 months I was finally about 5.5. cc's in my band and started having a little restriction. I went every 6 weeks for a fill. My office would only put .44 in at a time. The fills would last about 6 weeks until I got to around 7 c.c.'s then it lasted a few months. Now I am around 8.8 cc's and have not had a fill in about 7-8 months....still going strong...
Hang in there it will happen!! Just take one day at a time.

Thank you for helping me to keep the faith and not give up on fighting the good fight. I really needed your response, and congrats on your success!!
Yes, you are still healing . I am 5 months out and JUST hit my sweet spot ( I think ) this week with my 5th fill. Its all trial and error for the first months up to a year sometimes. Baby steps. Some lose fast , others it takes a while. Don't get frustrated, I made that mistake months ago and realized I have to get to a spot where I can let this band work for me.

OCMomma - thanks for the pearls of wisdom. Congrats on the quitting smoking...that is a biggie!!!!! I quit 7 years ago and it is one of the 2 best things I have ever done for myself. Becoming a bandster was the other one, even though I am only at the beginning of this journey I do believe it is going to be life changing. :-)
I had my surgery march 1, my first fill April 7 and had not lost any weight, the nurses at my clinic were happy with that, they said that is to be expected, and they hope alays not to see gain in that first month, my second fill was may 11, last wed and i had lost 3 lbs in the month since my first fill. I had 4 cc in a 10 cc band, they only fill o.5cc at a time so now I am at a 5 cc. feel some change. my next fill is june 1, then another fill 3 weeks from that date. i hope to get to 1lb week loss, i feel good. that to me is paramount.
i was deluded a bit prior to surgery and I swear I only took in the words off this site i WANTED to hear... i hardly read anything about slow weightloss to begin, i only read 20 lb loss first month. well thats not TYPICAL RESULTS... i did not do well on the pre-op diet nor the mushy stage... i battled deep hunder and fed it... for me i think it will take several more fills, but with each fill i feel vaugley different... which is ok with me. just so long as the scale is going down and not up...its so hard not to be eager... ALSO im glad I did not go gang busters with exersize... i think if I had hit it really hard I would have lost for sure but would have given up the muster for it and potentially regained by now... i am amping up every week and actually trying to live as normally as possible. i dont' want this to be a fad, i want to progess slowly towards my goal weight and not spaz out at what the numbers are saying... for me, ( am learning now) i think this approach will help me not only reach my goal but stay there much longer!
Then again, all that being said... i could be saying all that crap to justify my meager 3lb weightloss since March 1... IT IS WHAT IT IS!!!!!!
