Mexico

Need advise! Hoping to go to Mexico to have my wls.
Has anyone here done this? Has any one used Dr. Verboonen.

Thanks, I have viewed her site definately alot of info. In Fact I my decission was pretty much made until I came across her posts. I'll keep looking. 


 

 Yes, I actually had Dr. Verboonen do my surgery in 2004.  His staff is exceptional! He also has a lapband himself and has lost a good bit of weight.
 My recommendation would be to get a band that is approved in the states.  I went with the MID band (my own choice) and have been able to find one Dr. in the states(7 hrs. away)  that will touch me.  Dr. Verboonen didn't tack the port down and it what they call floats.  You can actually manipulate it into different positions.  It's not painfull, but sometimes doesn't want to cooperate.  But the Dr. I found in the states has had no problems with accessing it and does use flouro to check the flow.
 It has been a number of years since I was there last, but I'm sure he is even more experienced and you should have no worries about going across the boarder.  Please keep in mind aftercare as it is essential!!  Make certain you can go back to see Dr. Verboonen or have a Dr. in the states lined up and willing to be your Dr. during your journey. 
 I must say I've never had a problem getting in to see the Dr. and he even saw me when I forgot to make an appointment without any fuss.

I didn't go to Mexico for my Band.  I went with Dr. Kirshenbaum in Aurora Colorado. 
He is cash only and he charges $9950.00  He is excellent!  I am thrilled!
His fills are free for 3 mos following surgery!  Worth every penny!
