Betty is correct on the timing (2001), but of the two people I mentioned, I believe Jessie went overseas to have hers placed and Cynthia was part of the clinical trials in the US.

I am still reading the good, the bad, and the ugly. So I am happy to hear all the long term bandsters are doing.  I was however looking to see if there were many out there thyat still have it and are happy.

YES!! 7 yrs out and still going strong!!  There are many of us but we are not on here a lot, because I'm just out living my life.  I forget sometimes I'm even banded it's so natural to me.  If you have any specific questions feel free to ask, or message me!  I have 2.5cc in a 4cc band, haven't had a fill since 2006, still have fantastic restriction, lost all my weight in the first 2-3yrs, had a TT in 2008 and that's my story in a paragraph lol.  Karianne

When I had finally had it with my band...after three years after I got it in 2002...I wrote to Dr. Himpens in Belgium where they had been doing the band longer.  I asked if he had any experience removing the band and revising to, for instance, the DS...since that was what I wanted.

He asked if I was joking.  He said that FULLY 20% OF HIS PRACTICE WAS REMOVING LAPBANDS.  That's, you know, a day a week if her does surery every day...just removing bands.

It works for about 20% of people who opt for the band.  A good number of the rest of us had it removed and put an end to the misery.

In any group of a hundred people, there are probably 2 or 3 sociopaths.  In a group of a thousand, more like 20-30.  They function very well in "affinity groups," where people have things in common and tend to trust strangers.  I am NOT saying not to trust anyone.  I AM saying that there are probably two dozen sociopaths hanging out here and looking for victims.  Most are NOT serial killers.
