Still having stuck issues.
So I get stuck just about once a day. It's typically towards lunch time and its when I'm REALLY hungry...because I'm too tight to eat in the mornings.
This is a learning process right? I will get better at slowing myself down and not inhaling the food to where I get stuck... I honestly think my problem is I'm just so hungry when I can eat...that I want to inhale it...but then I get stuck because I didn't chew enough.
:( Am I doomed to a lifetime of stuck episodes? Or will I get better?
Please make me feel better :).

Awe hun :)
You will get better. It does take a time to learn how to take itty bitty bites and chew thoroughly. You have had a lifetime of thinking about what to eat and not how you were going to eat it. It takes a while to get into those habits and even 3 yrs out I still "mess" up and swallow too much or eat too fast.
I remember the first time I got something stuck it felt like a golf ball in my throat and when it came up I freaked out and went to the hospital thinking something was wrong with me cause I was producing slime like some animal you see on Discovery channel.

Are you going on fluids for 24 hours after a stuck episode? It causes swelling and that leads to more stuck episodes. You need to do liquids for 24 hours and then proceed carefully.
Could you try a protein shake in the morning or some little protein snack? Could you eat a Greek yogurt in the morning?
I have always been able to eat breakfast and in almost 2 years I've only had 4 stuck episodes and I have never PB'd. You are risking your band if you get stuck once a day. You might need an unfill of a small amount.
You are not doomed to stuck episodes.

What's really helped me is drinking a hot liquid before my meals. I've made the mistake more than once of drinking a cold drink before eating. Just yesterday, I got a bottle of the new Mio flavoring that you add to water (peach tea flavor). I add it to a cup of water and heat it in the microwave for a couple of minutes. Just one little squeeze is all it takes...great taste too! Anyway, I'm finding that by drinking something hot before my meals, I never get stuck or pb. Sigh...the things you have to learn the hard way.
5.0 cc in a 10cc lapband (four fills) 1 unfill of .5cc on 5/24/2011.
.5 fill March 2012. unfill of .25cc May 2012. Unfill of .5cc June 2014.
Still with my lapband with no plans for revision. Band working well since
last small unfill.

All good advice.

Here's some other ideas:
Cut your food into tiny pieces before you sit down at the table. Use some sort of "food lube" like mustard, ketchup, bbq sauce, non-fat refried beans, etc. (If I use beans, I cut back on the protein portion of my meal since beans have some protein).
Try having a midmorning snack of something low cal/high protein, that way you might not be as hungry at lunchtime and can slow down a bit. Greek yogurt with some fresh/frozen fruit and a packet of 0 cal. sweetner of your choice. I stay away from the Greek yogurt that has the fruit already in it.. too much sugar. String cheese (I love the weigh****cher's smoked string cheese.. better than any others I've tried) is an option.
Do try to have something for breakfast. If time is of the essence, some of the premade ready to drink protein drinks are not too bad. Personally I like the Muscle Milk LIGHT in vanilla creme. Others like the EAScarbvantage. The trick to making these taste decent is to get them very very cold.
Best of luck.

I've posted this elsewhere, and it echoes what others have said here. But most mornings I make a shake with a very cold can of chocolate SlimFast, a scoop of Vanilla protein powder (so far I've found EAS 100% Whey Protein, with 23 grams of protein, to taste the best and be the best value), a bit of Splenda, and some ice. I run it through a little mini-blender for about 30 seconds and then drink it fairly slowly. I usually do this about 8 or 8:30, and I'm not hungry for several hours (if I'm concentrating on something at work, I'll suddenly find it's 1 or 1:30, although that's probably too long between meals). This really works for me -- both in convenience, in feeling too hungry too soon, and in getting it down (both in taste and tightness, although I don't have too much trouble with tightness in the morning. I'm just lazy!)
The other key is really paying attention to what you're eating. I find I take too big a bite or don't chew enough if I'm not paying attention to what I'm doing. It's really important to take small -- make that TINY -- bites until you get the hang of it and chew, chew, chew. And, of course, have a smaller portion. I found out that just because I CAN eat more doesn't mean I SHOULD. Important lesson!
Hope this helps.
