Hair Question: Post-op Chemical Processing

I'm about 1.5 weeks post-op and have a question for ladies who chemically process their hair (whether perm/relaxer, color, etc.).

I timed my last perm for two days before my surgery and, usually, I would have to process again in about 6 weeks.  Like most, I have alot of concerns about hair loss so I was wondering whether or not anyone has experienced any 'issues' with their chemical processes after being banded?

I color my hair every 4 to 6 weeks and never had a problem with hair loss.

If you notice hair loss for any reason, be sure you're getting in enough protein.  That's the secret to keeping your hair from falling out.

Hi, I get foiled highlights and had my hair colored again 3 months after my surgery.  So far, so good.  My hairdresser who has been doing my hair every 5 weeks for 2 years now, knows about the surgery and I have her on the look out for thinning.  I have ultra thin & fine hair already.  As a matter of fact, she had to thin my hair out because it was getting thick underneath and wasn't sitting right. I am hoping the extra calcium and vitamins I am taking are helping my hair.

PS: I take 2 chewable calcium, a multivitamin and two flaxseed oil capsules (the flaxseed is working wonders for my now horribly dry skin!)

Like the others I color my hair every few weeks and always have. If you do start losing hair it will no doubt be from the surgery itself which usually starts 3-6 mos out from surgery. That is from the trauma of surgery and the anesthesia and there really isn' much you can do but wait it out. Some folks swear by biotin but I've never used it so can't really say. Anyway even if you do lose some hair it WILL stop and regrow in time.

I color my hair every 4 - 6 weeks.  No problems there.  However, I have suffered from hair loss.  It started about 3 months ago and I am now 8 months out.  I have been having some gall bladder issues and so I am not getting enough protein in because I get sick when I eat good dense protein.  So I am going to have it removed at end of month, and hopefully I will get enough protein and grow some of my hair back :)  I do take biotin and I did notice a change, but I am not sure if I would have started growing it back naturally or if the biotin helped.  Good luck!
