Most of us turn into professional belchers after the band, just part of the deal. On the bright side you can really impress 12 yr. old boys with your talents!

I love your comment about the 12 year old boys!  I have found that the faster I've eaten the more burping happens.  Try slowing it down a bit.  Hope that helps.

Are you chewing s/f gum or drinking something like crystal lite?   I'm wondering if you're getting some sort of sugar alcohol (manitol, sorbitol, etc.) that is causing the reaction.

I usually only belch/burp when eating (it's one of the signs that I'm starting to get full), so the occurance on an empty stomach puzzles me and that's why I asked about the sugar alcohols.

What does your surgeon say?  Did you have a fill recently?  Maybe it's your body adjusting to the fill?

Thanks. None of the above.  This happens on an empty stomach or a full stomach.   If i feel the hiccup, i know I'm going to throw up no matter what.  I usually get 0.5cc, anything higher I'm back at the hospital for an adjustment.  I do not think that alcohol has anything to do with it because i have had alcohol at functions and has never had any problem. I am wondering as you have stated if i am adjusting to this last fill, and there is just a lot of empty space? I can actually hear the noise in my gut as if it were a funnel or some drain being cleared and hear comes the belch.  When i really needed to belch i couldn't--now i cant stop.  I was to enter a belching contest i would definitely win.  Also, non carbonated drinks are not an issue.

confused and tired of belching.   I am going back to the Dr. next week.

Sugar alcohols and Alcohol that we drink are not the same thing.  :)  Sugar alcohols are things like mannitol and sorbitol and are often found in sugar free foods.  They are notorious for causing digestive problems in some people.

Glad you're going back to the doctor.

Thanks, Im aware as to the difference.  I was just putting it out there you never know who  might be experiencing the same issue.  Or in fact, if they have had a light wine or something of the sort.  Thanks for your assistance.

I belch both after eating and on an empty stomach. Most of them are small and quiet but some are real rips. Yes, my grandchildren are duly impressed. I hear "Nice one Grandma. Between that and the occasional maloderous gas my hubby refers to me as "His delicate flower". While sometimes it comes on in order to help me out when something is "hung up" but not stuck. The rest of the time I have no idea why, but I deal with it. I keep meaning to try Gas-Ex but I forget.

If you find an answer let me know, Sue

Wow, I guess I'm lucky in that I've never had an issue with this!
