I am continuing to have all the pre-surgery tests because I am want to keep my options open. As you all know I am giving WW a try in one last attempt to do this without WLS. So today was my first day and I was over my points by 10 points. This is why I am keeping my appointments. I wish I could get the surgery tomorrow so I could stop over thinking it.

You really need to make a decison and the reason why is because if you wait to long then all these tests you are doing are going to be no good and they will make you do every single one of them again and if insurance is paying for them you might have trouble getting them to pay for them all over again so watch your time line :o)

I was self pay and I had a time line so the doc made very sure I was going to go through this befoe he even started the testing on me to make sure I wasnt going to back out .

I gave several diets one last try.  I lost and then went on vacation, came home and gained all of the weight and more back.  That was it for me!  I got the band and have never regreted it!

Write down your reasons for wanting it and then write down your reasons for doubting it.  Talk it over with someone you trust and then make a decision.  The last poster is right, your tests will be void soon and you might end up having to pay for them yourself.  It can be very expensive.

Good luck!

I also think you should decide. If you are not sure about surgery then put things on hold and do what you gotta do . If you are just unsure then write down your fears and questions and go to your Dr and discuss all of them and see where you are but all this testing and dieting is usually only good for 6 or so months so you may be wasting time and money if you are not going to go thru with it in the end.
It is a huge decision and we all second guess our decisions and it is normal to wonder if we can just do it on our own or think we should give dieting one more go. You go thru alot of emotions during this process. Maybe a counseler familiar with wt loss/eating disorders could help you make your decision! Good luck on your journey which ever way you choose to go :)

I don't know if this helps, but I went to my PCP and asked as he was looking through my file if the health benefits for me would make it worth it. (self pay)  I told him when I line up the pros and cons that I knew conscously AND subconscously I was just so tired of trying (and failing) methods NOT to be fat.  He looked up at me and said, "Go for it." It was important to me that he was on board.
